saich family - (Great Dunmow - Essex)
I have been researching the Saich family. Up to now, they have come from Brentwood Essex, but, working back, have now got to George Saich born 1839, born in Dunmow, although lived in Brentwood, also. I have sent for his marriage cert, and he was married to Mary Ballard, and his father was Robert Saich. Both George and his father, Robert were labourers. I am now having trouble trying to find the correct birth record for this George. I thought that it was George John Saich born 1839, but after sending for his birth cert, with checking reference of Robert, as the father, it came back that this was NOT correct. Can anyone helkp out, here, please. I would like to get another generation back, at least. Thanks
Page and Cutterick/Cuttsrick - (Great Dunmow - Essex)
I am looking for information on Arthur Cutterick or Cuttsrick born in Dunmow around 1880. It seems that Arthur's real name was Lee but his mother was 'sold' in the market to Mr Cutterick/Cuttsrick. (I've read that this was a low-cost way to divorce and usually agreed between the parties beforehand - no stigma attached.) The only records I have been able to find with a reference to Cutterick/Cuttsrick are the births of Ernest W Page in 1913 and Florence M Page in 1916(both in Dunmow)which show the mother's maiden name as Cutterick and Cuttsrick respectively. The timeline would be right for their mother to be Arthur's half-sister. Can anyone help with a first name for her or any other information?
