Ford's Park Road - Canning Town
Frank Albert Smith (born 31 Jan 1859 in Sydenham,Kent) is recorded as being a grocer's manager, living at 1 Ford's Park Road, in the 1901 census. His children Amelia F (b 1886 Hackney), Frank A J (b 1890 Poplar), Louisa M (b 1893 West Ham), and Dinah (b 11 Aug 1898 Poplar) were living with him, and I believe he had another daughter, Sarah A (b 1886 Poplar) His wife was Amelia (nee Harris, b 25 Jan 1865,), but by 1901 Frank appears to be a widower. Interested in any information about this family, and the area. Photos of the street, and particularly the grocer's shop would be great.

Over 600 people died in the tragedy. Any information on the aforementioned Butlers would be gratefully received. Regards, Keith

James Knight - Canning Town
James was the son of Elizabeth and Alfred Knight. He was the publican of The Sidney Arms, Alice Street, Tidal Basin, Canning Town. His brother, Frank, was the publican of The Lord Napier, 6 Woolwich Road, Greenwich. Sister Minnie was the publican of The Red House, Barking Road, Plaistow. Another brother, Fred's, wife re-married Ted Whittaker of The Greyhound, West Ham. James' sister, Rose, was the publican at The British Queen, Globe Road, Stepney Green. Apparently, there was a brother, Harry, who went to live in South Africa. James' parents were Alfred and Elizabeth. Elizabeth died on 16 December 1906 and is interred at East London Cemetery, grave number 26011, square 58. I am hoping that information about James will lead me to information about another brother, Walter Alfred Knight, born in Taunton, Somerset, in the last quarter of 1880. Walter moved to South Africa, where he married Mary Ann Wallis and, at the time of his death on 27 May 1919, they were running the Chatsworth Beer Hall, Siemert Road, Doornfontein, Johannesburg.
