On my paternal side I have a Great Grandfather, Thomas DAVIS born about 1829 in a place unknown, most likely England.We do know his father was Charles DAVIS, date of birth and place unknown. We do know that Thomas Davis turned up in Adelaide, SouthAustralia, Australia as a widower and in 1878 he married his second wife, an Ellen Jane JAMES b. 1853 in Brompton, Sth.Aust. Ellen parents were David and Sarah JAMES.(JONES) In 1879 a son, Henry Malcolm was born in Adelaide. We believe that Ellen died in childbirth for her second child in 1883. Thomas died in 1886 in Windy Creek, Sth. Aust. Henry Malcolm was taken in as a State Ward at the age of 4 yrs until he was 12 years of age when he went to work in the mines. As a State Ward he was moved from place to place and had no record of his parents nor any mementos

Sarah Emma Atkins, born 8th January, 1846 - died ? September, 1917 aged 71. Henry Atkins, born 5th June, 1848. Looking for information on my Great Grandfather. Unfortunately not much is known. His name is George W. Holvey. Still have no idea what the W. means, but he was born March 6, 1833 supposedly in England. He emigrated to the States, we believe he married Elizabeth Yates in Ohio, and they started their family around 1857. He died before 1900, as Elizabeth was listed as a widow on that years census, with 8 out of 10 children living. Her brother Benjamin was also living with her at that time. Any help would be appreciated.

These brave men have no known graves and are from the UK. Australia, and India. The register I have contains information of Soldiers from the UK. and Australia who fell on the Peninsula. But I must stress the names only Marriage to Patterson, if any thinks there maybe somethng of use to them, if you would like me to 'lookup' a name I will do so.
