James Smith
- Chester-Le-Street
My 3 x great grandfather James Smith was born in Mangalore India in about 1801...I suppose his dad was in the army. James married a Mary Forster in Durham in 1823, then he married MY ancestor Jane Minto in Chester le Street in 1832...the family stayed in and around Chester le Street after that, so his parents may have come from there in the first place. It's possible his father was called Luke (that is what James' first son was called). Does any one know of a Luke Smith who served in Mandragore India around 1800, possibly from the Chester le Street area? I'd love to know more about him.
thanks
