McGowan - Lanchester
I am looking for my Grandmothers family. Her name was Sarah Ann McGowan, bn. 1920, in Lanchester, she married John Robert Fountain, and settled in Leadgate. Her mother was of the same name, she was believed to have been married, but possibly to someone of the same surname. She died young, possibly around 1930 after a fall down the stairs. It is also possible that she had a son, called Matthew McGowan, although i believe that my he died around the same time as his mother, although this is all hearsay. If anyone can help me it would be greatly apprecieted.

I am trying to find out information on a Henry Brown born around 1760 who had a son called Hall Brown b 1778 Cornsay, Lanchester. He was a farmer and was married at St Andrew's Church, Auckland 21/11/1799 to Elizabeth Gardner b 1782 Brancepeth, Brandon. Henry was a witness at their wedding so I am assumming that this was Hall's father.
Hall and Elizabeth Brown also had a son called Hall Brown who was born in Esh in 1805. Hall Brown jnr married Eleanor Burnett born in 1809 Northumberland.
Any information would be welcome.

SHORT/BELL/BRENTLEY/BENTLEY - Low Coniscliffe
Looking for relations to Thomas Brentley(bn Middleton Tyas) and Rebecca Jane Bell(bn Snape)(1847 and 1848). their children were Frederick James, Albert(Alfred) and Elizabeth Bell Brentley all born in Evenwood and lived in Low Coniscliffe on the 1881census. Frederick married Elizabeth Hannah Davidson and eventually lived in Lucknow Street, Elizabeth married John Hopperton.Both marriages were at St Pauls. When Thomas died in 1881 from consumption Rebecca later married Michael Short from Ireland and continued to live at Dalton Street, in Darlington.

I have a lot of smith family who lived in Low Fell from about 1910 to 1940.
My mother Lily (born 1918) grew up there in Robson Street and she and her 5 siblings had many cousins living locally.
They went to Kells Lane school, and attended St Helens and St Johns churches.
Their father was Robson Smith and their mother Sarah Ann Williams.
I know there must still be descendants of these people in the area.
I have colated quite a bit of information and am keen to share it.
