John Coe - Beamish
My gt grandfather John Coe was born in Beamish(according to 1901 censu) c1844. He married(?) my gt grandmother Hannah Harrison but I have been unable to find any record of their marriage. They had 2 daughters, Sarah, born Hebburn 1883 and Lillie, born Heworth 1886. There was also possibly a 3rd daughter, Minnie. I have discovered a John Coe of similar age who birthplace is given as Hilltop in 1881 and 1871 Beamish, but I cannot be sure that this is the same person. This John married Elizabeth Hedworth in 1866 and was widowed by 1881. In both cases the occupation was given as Joiner. I would be grateful for any information which would help. Maureen

My grt grt grandfather was the Farm Bailiff at Woodwell House near what was Belmont Junction Railway station. The estate was owned by the Marquis of Londonderry. WILLIAM SUTTON was his name (1793 - 1860). He was married to BARBARA TWEEDY (1797 - 1862) and my grt granfather was their 9th child, CHARLES (1841 - 19xx). Does anyone have any ancient or modern history on Woodwell House, nearby Low Grange Farm, the railway station, or about this family?
