Seeking info Thomas Raine b.1803 who married ? Longstaff and had a son before 1831. Thomas was tried at York 17 March 1832 for sheep stealing. Sentenced to death, reprieved, sent to Australia arrived 1833. Records indicate his wife was living with her father Thomas Longstaff at Gallgate in August 1832. Is anyone decended from these people? Can anyone suggest how I could find out the first name of Thomas Raine's wife and also the name of their son. Thomas Raine remarried in Australia so I don't know whether his first wife died or divorced him. Any help greatly appreciated.

I am a descendant of Thomas APPLEBY b. c. 1816 Barnard Castle, Durham, England, to William APPLEBY and Margaret WRIGHT. Thomas was a Clerk and a Soldier serving in Antrim, Ireland. On 28 July 1835 at Carrickfergus; Antrim; Ireland; Thomas Appleby was convicted with Henry Mason of stealing on the 19th June 1835 watches, silk handkerchiefs, coats, silver spoons etc, the property of Ensign Lacy and Lieutenant Ferns. Both pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 7 years transportation. On 9 January 1836 at Cork; Ireland; Thomas Appleby was transported and sailed on board the vessel Surrey with 227 prisoners and 32 emigrant boys. The Surrey arrived Sydney, NSW, Australia on 17 May 1836. Thomas married Elizabeth BAIN, b.1823, Greenock, Scotland (daughter of James BAIN and Elizabeth McPHERSON), at Lanyon Station,NSW (now ACT), on 8 September 1841. They had a family of eleven possibly twelve children. Hoping someone may be able to help me discover information on William APPLEBY'S English family. Valma, NSW, Australia

He married Alice Milner in abt 1879 and then lived in and around Wakefield, West Yorkshire until his death. My gt grandfather John Coe was born in Beamish(according to 1901 censu) c1844. He married(?) my gt grandmother Hannah Harrison but I have been unable to find any record of their marriage. They had 2 daughters, Sarah, born Hebburn 1883 and Lillie, born Heworth 1886. There was also possibly a 3rd daughter, Minnie. I have discovered a John Coe of similar age who birthplace is given as Hilltop in 1881 and 1871 Beamish, but I cannot be sure that this is the same person. This John married Elizabeth Hedworth in 1866 and was widowed by 1881. In both cases the occupation was given as Joiner. I would be grateful for any information which would help. Maureen
