Hi I am looking for information regarding John Eltis born c1857 So Shields County Durham. Married to Ann (no maiden name known). John was a seagoing Engineer. 1881 census records show them and their son Alfred 1880 (my great grandfather) living at 21 Glebe Cleft Villas sunderland. In the 1901 census John was on a steam ship called the Douglas docked at Hetton Drops River Wear St Stephen Sunderland. Alfred married Annie Robinson and they had seven children to my knowledge but I also believe they may have lost 3 daughters also Winifred (1902-1995) Sidney? (1903) Jack (1906-1971) Alfred 1910 George (my grandfather 1913-1977) Iris (1916) and Basil (1920) C1948 Alfred , Annie and some of their children (I believe Alfred, Jack and Iris) emigrated to Australia using the 10 pound ticket.
