John married Sarah Ann Walls in Nov 1884 in Darlington. Sarah Walls was born in 1865 in Darlington, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Ann Walls. She was one of several children, Ann, Charles, Joseph, Matthew, Sarah, John, Clara, and Mary ('Polly').

I am trying to find the birth of my gg grandfather James Thompson bc 1834 who married Elizabeth Piercy in Etton, East Yorkshire on 28.1.1854. On the marriage certificate he gives his father's name as John (Labourer) and, on the censuses, says that he was born in Darlington. Any help would be gratefully received.

My ancestor, John Pearson of Ormesby, was married in Darlington in 1653, to Averill Chapman of Darlington. I would be interested to know anything about these Chapmans, and whether an Estste in Harmby quite a distance away, would count as being "of Darlington".
John certainly owned property in Harmby some time after Averill's death.

Does anyone have information about Ann Stanfield.She was born Woodhurst in 1843/44.She was born Ann Isley,and married John Stanfield c 1861,in Darlington Co Durham,but may have married elsewhere.John Stanfield came from Lincolnshire.They were both living at Killinhall Row,Middleton St George Co Durham at the 1871 census.living next door was Ann's brother,John Isley.I think Ann came with her brothers,John,George and William to the Teesside area to work.After 1871 I can find no record of either Ann or John Stanfield.However there is Ann Isley that died in Huntingdonshire in 1920.The date fits well with her age,but without the Stanfield name.Did she divorce before returning to Woodhurst in huntingdonshire or is that a different Ann.

Since my enquiry Feb 08 I have found out that Hunter Goldsbrough's wife was a Mary Teasdale and they married at St. Cuthbert's, Darlington, on 3.3.1819. I believe Hunter's parents were Richard Goldsbrough and Mary Hunter and they were married in Darlington on 3.5.1784. I also believe that Mary's parents were a John Teasdale and Hannah Race and they married on 15.10.1789. at St. Mary the Virgin, Middleton, Teasdale.

He moved to Wolverhampton and then to Barton Richmond at The Porch we have since lost touch. His father was called Wilfred and mother Mary E and he had a sister whose name we do not know and would love to trace she emigrated to Canada we think in the 50s early 60s. Her brother Wilfred Alan Watson was born 1936 and lived there also. Joyce married Colin Docherty in 1951 in Darlington and they had two daughters Lynn born 1953 and Irene born 1954.The whole family then emigrated to Canada in 1962/63/64 and we have lost touch ever since any information would be most grateful.
