My ancestor, John Pearson of Ormesby, was married in Darlington in 1653, to Averill Chapman of Darlington. I would be interested to know anything about these Chapmans, and whether an Estste in Harmby quite a distance away, would count as being "of Darlington".
John certainly owned property in Harmby some time after Averill's death.

Since my enquiry Feb 08 I have found out that Hunter Goldsbrough's wife was a Mary Teasdale and they married at St. Cuthbert's, Darlington, on 3.3.1819. I believe Hunter's parents were Richard Goldsbrough and Mary Hunter and they were married in Darlington on 3.5.1784. I also believe that Mary's parents were a John Teasdale and Hannah Race and they married on 15.10.1789. at St. Mary the Virgin, Middleton, Teasdale.
