Trying to trace my grandparents. James Doran (died about 1934/35 in Jarrow) and Kathleen or Katherine Featherstonehaugh, died in Hebburn. I live 3,000 miles from my dad and forget when I do talk to him for more details. He knows only bits and pieces, he has cousins in Annfield Plain or Lanchester named Thompson. My dad is Gerry Doran, had one sister Dorothy and two brothers, Ron and John. John is still alive but he is in ill health and I can't ask him questions. My grandmother had two sisters that are related to Thompson's in or around Annfield Plain. The two sisters were Dolly and Sally. I think I may have the wrong spelling or even name of my grandmother, however, someone out there may know who I am talking about.

William Wilkinson married Eliza Eden 29/July/1827 and Eliza was born at East Cowton, Yorkshire, christened 11/July/1805. There are so many Williams that could fit the bill that I have found it impossible to find his birth, a relative in her 80s thinks he may have come from Scotland, their children where all born at Aycliffe or Darlington, Durham except the last one, Robert was born at Escomb, Durham in 1839 but I could not find the family on the 1851 census for Escomb, I would love to hear fromanyone researching this family

Interested in exchanging information about the GELDART (often recorded as GELDARD) family living in Aycliffe. These included Richard & Ann (nee GREY) who were probably born about 1770 and their children William (b~1789), John (b~1792) and Elizabeth (b~1794). John was a weaver and first married Dorothy CARLTON (he later married Margaret Hannah WHITE) by whom he had several children (William 1815, Richard 1818, John 1820, George 1822, Margaret 1825 and Ann 1828). James Robson Wilson (1819-1881) - Aycliffe Village
James Robson Wilson was my Gt Gt Grandfather. At the time of the 1871 census he was living in Heighington Street with his wife Hannah (nee Carter). He was a land surveyor at the time and possibly had business premises in the village. His mother, Ann Wilson (31) is buried in St. Andrew's churchyard, in the same grave as her father, James Robson. My Gt Gt Grandfather James Robson Wilson and his wife Hannah were both eventually buried in St Andrew's churchyard (possibly in the same family grave) in 1881 and 1882 respectively. They were residents of Darlington at the time. Any infromation regarding the Wilsons in Aycliffe or pictures of the village in the 1870's would be particularly welcome. Charles

I am trying to establish if there is a Family connection between a John Nixon, dob 10-05-1815 in Barlow,Durham and my Great-Great-Grandfather George Brown dob abt 1815 in Howden Pans, Northumberland. John Nixon came to South Wales as a Mining engineer having served his appenticeship with a Joseph Gray in Durham. George Brown followed him to Wales and was the "Viewer" during the sinking of the Navigation Colliery in Mountain Ash, Mid Glamorgan, and he subsequently became the Manager of several of Nixon Collieries in the area.
