The founding father of the Australian branch of the "Ken(t)shole" family was born in Bow, where he worked as a tailor. In 1854, he emigrated to Australia, paying for the passages of his wife, family and himself; they landed in Geelong, Victoria after an epic voyage, and many of his descendants still live thereabouts. Any information about the Ken(t)shole family in and around Bow would be most welcome; the additional "t" in the surname was common among those christened at Nymet Tracey, but not elsewhere, such as Sandford; however it is believed that they all belonged to the same family.

SAMUEL later went to live in LONDON where he was a schoolmaster.

This suggests 1724 birth/christening but no such record exists. Nearest is 1731, either a late christening or early marriage (14!) if this is him. Children were Thomas, John, Hugh, Francis, Dorothy and Mary. Francis was possibly a tailor.

I know lots about his subsequent history (married Mary Ann Stevens in Launcells in 1857 and settled in Morwenstow, where he is buried), but nothing about his childhood or parents.
