Sarah Ann Hext b. abt 1831 died 1893 - South Pool
(many thanks to JH for emails -- I am leaving this post in place in case the information helps others) Looking for information on Sarah Ann Hext b. abt 1831 in South Pool. She married Thomas Knowles (b. 1833, son of Robert Knowles and Mary Coyde) and lived in Slapton. I have their census records from 1861, 1871, 1881, and 1891, and (thanks to a Curious Fox member) their MI which lists Sarah's death in October 1893. In 1861 her widowed mother Johanna Hicks (sic), aged 57, also born South Pool, is living in Thomas and Sarah Ann's household. I have the birth registration of Thomas and Sarah's eldest child Augusta in 1855, but I have not been able to find records of their marriage yet. (Update: There is also a listing on FamilySearch in the Pedigree Resource File for Thomas and Sarah, but the marriage date given there is an estimate. Thanks to the Curious Fox member who reminded me about that entry in the PRF, in which Sarah has the surname HEXT.) A possible match for Sarah and her mother might be the family in Osborn's 1841 South Hams census index (7524) which has a Sarah (age 8) and Johanna (age 45) in South Pool with the surname HEXT. (update: thanks also to CF member who helped with census lookups for 1841 and 1851) Would appreciate pointers to any other historical records for Sarah Ann or her mother, especially before 1861. Thanks!
