Knott Family History
- South Brent
William Knott (19, Stonemason) married Sally Pering (20) at South Brent Church (Devon) in 1823. ( I have a copy of their Marriage Certificate). Their children were baptised at South Brent (near Plymouth) as follows: William 18/09/1825 Matilda 12/01/1928 John Pering 20/2?/1831 Charles 10/03/1833 George 02/10/1836 Stephen Pering 26/05/1839 Honora 07/06/1839 (Buried 22/01/1845).
George (Stonemason) and 3 brothers went to Peru to work on a Railway Construction Project.
Some of the surviving children emigrated as follows:
John Pering (Stonemason) to Warwick (1864) .
George (Stonemason) to Warwick, Austrailia (1874).
William Henry (Stonemason) to Adelaide - but probably returned to England.
Stephen to NZ - but probably returned to England.Sally was buried 14/01/1845. It appears that William Knott then re-married Elisabeth (?) as this family appears in a later Devon Census. William (Senior) may have been the son of a William Knott and Ann Soper who married 30/01/1783 in Ashburton (Devon).
William and Sally were my GGG- Grandparents. My father was John Pering Clancey Knott. His father John Pering Knott was married to Mary Heath Clancey and he died in Brisbane 08/04/1942.
Any info re KNOTT family requested please.
