I am the g.g. granddaughter of SAMPSON CUMMINGS, born in Stonehouse in 1850, married SARAH in Plymouth in 1869 & registered in the 1871 census as living at 55 CECIL STREET, STONEHOUSE, with their son SAMPSON, Sampson snr. was a carpenter/joiner. I am the great-great granddaughter of Charles Edward Horton and Mary Flann Turner, both born about 1839 in East Stonehouse, married 28/5/1860 in London, continued to live in Islington until they died. Charles was a printer by trade. Both their fathers, Joseph Horton and James Turner are listed on their marriage certificate as musicians. According to the 1851 and 1871 censuses, James was also a Greenwich Hospital pensioner living in Chapel Street, East Stonehouse. Any information about the Horton or Turner families most welcome.

They had children - Elizabeth Ann, John James (who married Fanny ?from Longhandborough in Oxford)), Charles Henry, Rosetta Catherine, Clarence Duncan (who married Emma Newman)and Frederick William. Another later daughter Kathleen married a William Arthur Salter, a Grocer.

I am looking for anyone who may have some information of William H Norman born c1871 Stonehouse. He married Mary F born c1871 in Dublin Ireland. They had three children Felix Louis, Patricia and Anthony. I have found them on the 1901 England Census but Anthony was not born then. Felix was 10 months old and patricia was 4 years old. I have the family living in Hampstead London. I beleive that William was an accountant. His Father I have as George Norman but I think his name has changed as he was a Merchant Sea Man from Prussia and he married Rose c 1843 who was from Stonehouse Devonshire. If anyone can help me with some more information, that would be great.... I keep coming up against brick walls...

James (John) Huband was born in Stonehouse, Devon about 1833. His mother was Agnes - maiden surname unknown- and father was William.
He married Emma Ruby and emigrated to Queensland, Australia on board the "Conrad" which arrived in Moreton Bay November 1855. James was a Mason, so could have been involved with some Memorial stones in the local cemeteries.

Simeon ( Simon) Ruby was possibly born in Cornwall, but on 1841 census was found in Fore St, Stonehouse, Devon with wife Mary.
Emma Ruby was listed as daughter ( not born in the county of Devon) who may be the Emma Ruby who married James Huband and emigrated with him to Qld, Australia in 1855. Both aged 22 years on the manifest of the "Conrad" which arrived in Moreton Bay, Queensland on 15th Nov 1855.
Any links or info very welcome.

I am trying to find more information about John Griffiths b. 1801 and Mary Rickard b. 1801. Married 24.06.1819. at Plymouth St. Andrew. I cannot find any information about them after 1841 or four of their eight children, Bejamin b. 1821, William b. 1827, Ann b.1830 and Ann Butler b. 1834. Presumably they all died but I can't find any definite reference to this. Has anyone any ideas?

The third son of thatcher, James Bridle and wife Mary, nee Salter. Two older brothers, John and James, older sister Elizabeth, (younger sister, Sarah died young.) Orphaned in 1826, marriage Exeter 1844 to Ann Beard, (born Bickleigh, nr Tiverton). Wife and sons appear on subsequent censuses living Tiverton, but William never home, due to being in domestic service, latterly as a butler. Died 1866 at Stuckeridge House, Oakford althouth not there in 1861. Would love to know where he'd been all those years!

Mr John Palmer & Mrs Heath are master & matron. John Benson Esq is chairman of the Board of Guardians, & Mr John Physick is the union clerk & supt.registrar.
