There appear to have been quite a few Kenshole's living in and around Sandford in the late 1800's, but little or no trace thereafter. Perhaps my great-grandfather Emanuel was typical, in that he "emigrated" to Merthyr Tydfil, where he becamea policemen, and founded the South Wales family to which I belong.
Would welcome any information about members of my family who lived in or near Sandford.

Mortimer/Mortimore of Priorton, Devon
- Sandford
Priorton is a few miles from Sandford near East Village and many Mortimers are listed around the area. John Mortimer, well-off yeoman d 1604 (Married to Wilmot)is buried in Sandford's St. Swithuns churchyard. His will names no children, but James Mortimer who he left 100 pounds must have been important.Had brother William (daughter Julyan) brother Nicholas and his children Hugh and Bridget,a married sister Joan Fugare, another, Alice married Gifford. A John son of godson Roger Mortimer also a descendant nmentioned, godson John Hall, also William Woodyate in this 1604 will - I need to make more connections as evidence points to a Robert starting a new branch in Sussex, marrying there 1618, who was a descendant, according to College of Arms notes.

John Hayes Coastguard
- Shaldon
Hi I am researching John Hayes who live in Little Bicton Place from abt 1841. He was Married to Margaret and according to the I.G.I they were born & married about 1833 in Little Bicton, but according to the censuses (1841-1891) they both came from Ireland(no county given. The family moved to Shaldon and live at Riverside. Between 1852-61 the family moved to Hoose, (Now Hoylake, Wirral). They had 7 children John, James, William, Margaret, Ellen, Mary & Catherine all born between 1837-1852. When the family moved to Wirral the three boys stayed (I presume as their names do not appear in 1861 with their parents only the girls. I may have found William's marriage to a Ada Jennetta Carr in East Stonehouse in 1870 which I have not confirmed. William's occupation is given as mariner, no sign of John or James. Any help will be gratefully appreciated.
