Searching any info on the Hunt Family in Rattery. Ancestor MARY ANN HUNT was born there abt 1820, she married a JAMES GIBBS PHILLIPS. They had at least 3 children, James G.K. Phillips b.1859 in Birmingham, Mary A.J. Phillips b.1862 in Tipton Staffs and George P. Phillips b.1864 in Plymouth. Any info greatly appreciated. As far as we now James Gibbs Phillips was a Fishing Rod Maker when he married Mary Hunt.

Looking for info on Robert BAKER (b1822 Silverton, Devon). He was Post Master at Rewe during 1870s and 1880s when he 'took in' his granddaughter (my great-grandmother) Emily NORMAN aged 11 to learn the trade. She became a Hotel bookkeeper and eventually married Ernest WOOD and moved to Derbyshire. Robert had 8 children of his own (including Elizabeth, Emily's mother) - one of whom, Gowin BAKER (b1846) eventually became a Butler at an Oxford College. Any info or other connections welcome.

Also in the house is: Robert May (great-great grandfather)and his wife, Mary, both aged 62, a farmer of 257 acres employing 8 men and 3 boys; William May, unmarried son aged 27; In 1863 Arthur Richard May went on to marry Mary Anne Wippell aged 16 and the daughter of a farmer aged 59 of 400 acres employing 9 men 4 boys. There appear to have been quite a few Kenshole's living in and around Sandford in the late 1800's, but little or no trace thereafter. Perhaps my great-grandfather Emanuel was typical, in that he "emigrated" to Merthyr Tydfil, where he becamea policemen, and founded the South Wales family to which I belong.
