I`m looking for information on the Hart family who, I believe, lived in Mortehoe in the 1870/80s. The 1891 census states that my grandmother, Annie Hart, was born in Morthow. I can`t find any trace of a Morthow and have been told that it was incorrectly spelt.The 1881 census states she was born in Westdown,Devon.She came to Birmingham and in 1915 gave birth to my Mother.Annie would have been born around 1874 and married William Francis Tregay at Delabole, Cornwall in 1893.Her parents were William and Ellen Hart.Her father was manager of the hotel in Delabole sometime in the 1880`s. Newton Abbot - White - 1850 - p 457 The Union comprises 39 parishes. Their total average annual expenditure on the poor during the 3 years preceding the formation of the Union was £16,756. In 1838 it was £12,938, & in 1840 £15,997.The Workhouse, which has room for about 400 inmates, is pleasantly situated on the eastern side of the town, & is one of the best in England, both in external appearance & internal arrangement. The building & furnishing cost about £13,000. The various wards, yards etc occupy nearly 2 acres, & attached to it are about 2 acres of garden ground. There are 56 elected guardians & the Rev C Wolston is chairman. Mr John Alsop is the union clerk & supt.registrar; the Rev WF Good, chaplain: & James & Mrs Blythe, master & matron of the Workhouse.

Hi, I am looking for family information on my maternal grandfather, ARchibald Alfred Richard Winsor born in 1888. His name appears on the 1891 UK census for Newton-Abbot although he was born in Suffolk. He states his father's name as William James Winsor and his mother as Elizabeth Winsor on his marriage certificate although his mother is listed as Jannie or Janie Winsor on the 1891 census. He came to Canada sometime prior to 1912 as he met and married my grandmother Nellie Earle in Saskatoon Saskatchewan in 1912. He was in the Royal Naval Canadian Volunteer Reserve during World War 1. I know he left family behind in England. Archie died in 1944 in St. James, Winnipeg, Manitoba of a heart attack. I'd love to find his family and some photos of Archibald.

Am looking for anyone who has a connection to my great-grandmother. All I know at this time is that her name was Medland and she was likely married to a Mr. Lowe in 1910 at Newton Abbot. (It is possible that her name was Charolotte.) She had my grandfather in Newton Abbot in 1913 his name was Sidney Percy. In December 1912 she married John Ritchie (born c1872) who, at that time, worked in the Post Office Telephone Service. He was living in Torquay Road, Newton Abbot when he married. A week after their marriage the child was given away for adoption to a family in Tiverton.
