I'm tracing the Skinner family from Ottery St Mary. William Skinner (born 1801) was the village blacksmith - his wife was Mary. Also especially interested in his son William Henry Skinner born 1832 who became a builder/mason and married Mary Anne .... born 1832 in Kingskerswell. The couple later moved to Exeter.

Daisie Jervis Cotterell was my G'father's cousin - only daughter of his elder brother Frederick Charles Cotterell. Fred came from malvern & married Ellen Coates in Paignton in 1903. Daisie was born there in 1904. Ellen also came from Malvern but hersister Louisa was married to a Paignton man-surname Fletcher. They lived in Devon Terrace. Fred died back in Malvern in 1906 aged 24. I can find no trace of Ellen or Daisie. Did they return to Paignton? & where was Devon Terrace? I can't find it on amap. Help please!

His name was JACK (real name Cyril) TARR and he was the Deputy Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall and lived most of his life in the Paignton and Torquay area. He was also Chairman of the Lifesaving Assoc for many years. Born in 1919 I think, retired from the police in 1979, and died in 1987. I'd like to hear from anyone who new of him please.
