Iron Mill, Oakford, Gilbert Family
- Oakford
William Baldock Gilbert was recorded as a gamekeeper at Iron Mill Oakford on the 1871 census. He was married to Lucy Jane Smith and had a large number of children. They all disappear completely from all records that I can access after that date. I would be very interested to hear from anyone who may be a descendant of any of the family, assuming they weren't all wiped out by flu or something.

Edward And Anna Cody
- Ottery St Mary
This couple were ex-army people and they moved around a lot. Having retired, during 1890s they lived at Dotton Mill on the River Otter near Colaton Raleigh (the mill had been Anna's family home). On 1901 census lived near Tiverton, then moved to Ottery St Mary -1903/4/5 at North Street, Mill Street and Manor Row. Their son would have attended school in Ottery St Mary (has anyone old school registers?) Anna got TB and was sent to Devon Lunitic Asylum at Exminster. She died two years later in 1907. Edward was a musician. He might have played in local concerts. Does anyone have any references to the CODY name? It is quite unusual. Following his wives death Edward moved to Plymouth to live near a daughter.

Mitchell
- Ottery St Mary
I'm a descendant of John Mychell born 1410 of Rawkerhayne (Rockerhayne) near Colyton, Devon, England. My branch of the family moved to Ottery St Mary in the 17th century and resided there until the mid 19th when my ancestor moved to London. The family were originally yeoman farmers but took up the trade of butchers and fellmongers in Ottery, they also appear to have been religiously strong non-conformists . My website has details of extensive amateur and professional research into the Mitchell family with associated pedigrees (in plain text) dating back to 14th century and a gedcom for those with software to read this type of file. There are also photographs of Rawkerhayne farm house which is still in existance.
