Squire
- North Molton
The convict transport papers of Mary Ann Squire record that her mother was Mary and that her siblings were: brothers: William, John, Joseph, Joshua and sisters: Jane, Elizabeth, and Charlotte all living at the native place, Devonshire. Her death certificate states that she was born at Torrington,England and that her parents were Philip and Mary Squire. There is an entry in the IGI for a marriage of a Philip Squire to Mary Thorne on 20.2.1810. This would appear to be Mary’s parents’ marriage. IGI entries for the children of Philip and Mary Squire are: William Squire being christened on 30.12.1810 at North Molton, Devon, John Thorne Squire christened 31.1.1815, Elizabeth Squire christened 7.11.1824 at North Molton, Devon, Mary Ann Squire christened 5.8.1827 at North Molton, Devon and Mary Ann Squire christened 1829 at North Molton, Devon.Any help much appreciated.

Ryan of N Tawton
- North Tawton
Does anyone have information about the Ryan families who lived in North Tawton, Devon in the 1700's and 1800's?
I believe John Ryan was born there about 1787; in 1841 he was a confectioner in Oak St; John and Mary Ryan were the parents of John Cole Ryan (b. Exeter 1810) and Edward Cole Ryan (b. N Tawton 1818, my ancestor).
John Cole Ryan was also a confectioner, he was living with his first wife Elizabeth in Fore Street, North Tawton in 1841 & 1851, and in Hatherleigh Street in 1861; in 1871 he was still in Hatherleigh St (and still a confectioner), but with his second wife Mary A(nn?), widow of ?? Bickel.
Edward Cole Ryan married Mary Elizabeth Shepherd in Exeter in 1842, they moved to Camberwell in London and raised their family there.
Any help will be most gratefully received, especially any offers of lookups in the North Tawton parish register.

Macnamara/Macknamarren
- Northam
I am looking for any links to the following people, Charles Macknamarren and wife Grace nee Rogers born Northam c1725. They had three children in the 1750s that are recorded, Thomas, John and Elizabeth. Elizabeth died in infancy, John disappears more or less without trace but possibly moved to Penmaen near Swansea. Thomas went on to marry Mary Rowe of Northam, they had two children in 1780s. Mary died 2 weeks after the birth of son Charles in 1787 and Thomas died a pauper 2 years later. I can find no trace of their daughter Elizabeth who was born in 1785. Charles was apprenticed as a seaman in 1801, he married Elizabeth Williams of Ilfracombe in 1811 and went on to join the coastguards, serving in Devon,Ireland and Sunderland where he died of Typhus in 1847. After Charles's death the family split up with some moving to Swansea and some going to Portsmouth.
