My 3 x great grandmother, Mary Blackler, married Josias Smith Lear who was a scrivener from Modbury. I'm trying to trace Mary's parents. One source says her mother was Mary Bower and another says her mother was Mary Ash. Which is right?

George Brutton, innkeeper of Exeter Inn, Modbury, married Mary ? c1745. Had a daughter Elizabeth who married into the Rivers family. George Brutton died c1773. Possibly born in Modbury, but not sure where he came from. Any information would be great.

My great grandfather Henry James was christened in St. Mary's, Morchard Bishop on 29th January 1846 according to "Family Search". My grandfather (William Henry James) has on his birth certificate that Henry James was born in 1845.Henry was in the Royal Marines and was in East Stonehouse, Plymouth when William Henry James was born in 1871 and was still there in 1881. He was a Navy Pensioner and in Heavitree in 1901 with his wife Mary Ann (nee Harris). I do not know Henry's exact date of birth or date of death or names of his parents. My father Bernard Christopher James was born in Exeter in 1917 and died in 1992. He said that Henry was buried in Crediton. Can anyone local help with the details I am missing?

From the IGI there seems a direct link from Thomas Mortymer who married Johan Tincombe in 1663 at Morchard Bishop to myself. Their son John christened 3/1/1664 , married Mary Cox 15/4/1684. Their son John christened 4/6/1694 married Mary Vicory on 23/10/1716. In turn their son, also John, born August 1720, married Ann Haywood on 26/10/1742. Their son George, christened 6/2/1744, married Elizabeth Pope on 30/12/1768. Their daughter Grace, christened 21/4/1767, married Richard Licence Harris at Kenton 9/11/1791. Richard is my 4G Grandfather and any information on the family will be appreciated. Allen

He married Sarah Quick in Morchard and they moved to Bampton, where Charles was living at the time of his marriage. Edwin Davey was a witness at Charles' marriage. I am trying to find his relationship to Charles and did Charles move to Bampton because he had relations there?

I am trying to find out something - anything -about my 4G Grandmother, Mary HEMBURROW. She married George FARMER at Luxborough, Somerset in 1816, and according to the 1851 census she was born circa 1797 at Morebath. To date I haven't been able to find any data about the lady - not even any HEMBURROWs, HEMBOROUGHs, HEMBURYs, etc. from Morebath. Does anybody recognise this family name, and perhaps know of a Morebath connection?

DREW FLUELLEN - Morebath
John Drew was born in Morebath c.1826 and was a blacksmith. He married Ann Fluellen who was born in Plymouth c. 1828. The marriage has not been found but was probably in Plymouth c. 1860. By 1866 the family was living in Chelsham, Surrey where their 2 children Alice and Laura were born. In the 1881 census John was still a blacksmith in Croydon. Any information on John and Ann's birth and marriage dates please. Ann was possibly the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Fluellen from Exeter St Thomas.

MORELEIGH, DEVON / CORNHILL FAMILY - Moreleigh
The 1841 census shows four young people living on various farms about the parish. Does anyone have any connection with Ann, Henry, Maria or George Richard Cornhill?? I believe their parents must haved died and they were hired / apprenticed out to various farms. "Richard" was actually George Richard Cornhill, my g-g-g-grandfather who later lived at Paignton.

Edward is with his second wife Jane in Exeter in the 1851 census. There were 10 children from this marriage, all christened in Moretonhampstead. Mary(1792), Isaac (1795), Anna (1797), Elizabeth (1800), Edward (1803), Jane (1806), William (1809),Susan (1810), Mary Ann (1812), Grace (1812)
