I am trying to track down Henry Elworthy who I am pretty certain came from a farming family in Devon and his birth registered in Kentisbeare about 1848 and then living at Wood Barton. Silverton and Cullomton are also mentioned as registration districts. He went to India before the Suez Canal was open (ie 20 years later) and had an interesting career employed by F & C Osler as their agent in Rajputana and based Calcutta. He retired in 1908 and left India. Did he come back to Devon? If so did he return to the same area? Have I got the right Elworthy family as there is a less likely contender from Stockleigh?
