Spencer Relations - Devonport
My uncles name was John Crichton(Creighton) Stewart (Stuart) Spencer and his headstone in Australia lists him from Devonport. The birthday ot 1893 may not be correct as the family history indicates he fabricated to fight in WWI in Canada. My cousin (his son)and I are looking everywhere to find more family information, background such as his parents names, siblings, etc.

ANDREW & EMMA STEPHENS / DEVONPORT - Devonport
I would like to hear from anyone descended from Andrew Stephens who lived in Devonport around a century ago, and who married Emma Adams at Stoke Damerel in 1883. Their (known) children were : Florence (1885) ; Andrew (1887) ; Ernest (1890) ; Harold (1892) ; Stanley (1895) ; Gladys (1899). Andrew was born in Chatham in 1857 and possibly had a shop in Devonport in later years. Family lived in Monument Street in 1901 although Andrew had died by then. they had a son named ANDREW JAMES STEPHENS. There was later a shop in Devonport called Andrew Stephens and I wondered whether there was a connection.

Three Stantons born late 1700s - John a canvas manufacturer, Joseph a ropemaker and Edward a shipwright anybody with info?. They appear to have been non-conformists. I am particularly interested in the decendant of Joseph and Grace. Also any info on a John Rowse Kerkin who married at least two of joseph and Grace's daughters.

LOOKING FOR THE EASTERBROOKS - Devonport
Can amyone help me find out more about my great great grandmothers family please? Her name was Mary Ann Easterbrook and she was born, I believe, in Devonport, although by 1841 both Mary Ann and her sister Emma were living in Portsea Hampshire. When she married in 1844 to Richard Denbow in Hampshire, she gave her fathers name as John Easterbrook and his profession as builder. I have found an Easterbrook family in Rowe Street Plymouth in 1851, but this is Wm Easterbrook, not John, he is listed as a bricklayer. aged 57, born Exbourn, and his wife is Ann,58, born Plymouth, a daughter Charlotte 21 and son John 15, an Errand Boy. Both chilldren born Devonport. This could be her family but I am not sure. Are there any Easterbrooks who might know more about this family please?

Hi i have an old bible and i was doing a google search on the name stamped inside to find out how old it was, this site came up with matches so i thought it may be of interest to someone?? The names stamped on the inside cover is Josiah Clark 16 Cumberland street Devonport, the hand written name on inside cover is G. Gay 5 New Buildings Duke Street Devonport, this bible just seems to be in our family's possessions no one knows the named persons or of any connections to our family...

.......any knowledge about JAMES BIDDLECOMBE and his wife JOYCE Davey(or Dasey)Biddlecombe? In the 1861 census they were living at 118 Euston Road St Pancras London and both gave their birthplace as Devonport. James was 48 and Joyce 47 at that time so would have been born about 1813/14. Also listed were their children William 17 and Emily 16, and Mary Ann Tonkin 76 described as mother in law and her place of birth St Ives Cornwall.

Last known address was Stuart Terrace, Stoke, Devonport, in 1901. Known children were Florence (c.1892); Winifred (c.1894) ; William (c.1897) and Hilda Emily (1901). Is anyone descended from this family please?

Can anyone help with information on the parents of George Green, born c1794 in Stoke Demeral, Devon. Married c 1825 Mary Dingle, born Polperro c1804 in Polperro. Children were born in Devon. Jane c1826, George c1830, James c1834, Edwin c1836, Mary Ann 1838, Elizabeth c1842, and Emilia c1845. The son James Henry married Sarah Amelia Lover Sept qtr 1859. First born Charles Henry Green c1860, came to Australia pre 1885 as he married Annie Tucker in NSW Oct 28th 1885. Date of departure or name of vessel would be great start.

I am doing my family history and trying to find out when my grandpa moved to Plymouth from Liverool where they were living until the 1920's.The only known fact I have is that they lived in Charlotte street(by the naval dockyard)and that my mother used to do her courting on The Hoe.(as she used to put it)The family moved to South Shields in 1933 and was stationed at President2 River Tyne Defense.My grandpa was in the Royal Navy for 41 years and then the R.N.V.R.I would be gratefull for any help.Thank you.Duncan.

My gggrandfather Frederick Howard Hewson was born c1842/3 in Devonport (1891 census) He was a travelling chemist and settled in Newport Mon with my gggrandmother Mary Williams who was from Pembs. Wales. His family may have had connections with the Dockyard. I can't find his BMD or any other census records for him. Any help in solving this enigma would be appreciated.

Trying to find out what became of Henry Willcocks born 1887 son of Joseph and Annie. Last information from 1901 census when the family were living at Wolsden Street, Devonport. Family links to Greenock, so possibly returned there, but I would be grateful for any information.

William Bowden was born in Devonport 1812, His wife Matilda was born 1812 in St Johns, Newfounndland and died in Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales in 1879. They had 7 children .....The first ,Matilda Jnr was born in Devonport about 1833, they moved to Pembroke not long after, as their next daughter Sarah was born in Pembroke Dock in 1834, as were the next five....William 1838, John, my GGrandfather 17 Dec 1842, Sarah No 2 in 1843, Thirza J. 1846 and about 1850 Samuel was born. During this time they lived at Pembroke St Mary. I cannt find any records of this famuily prior to William Snr and would really appreciate any info that anyone has........... thanks

Lines to Edward 111, go through Fowell of Blackhall, Glanville of Kilworthy, Grymes of Buckland Monnachoram, Harris of Hayne and Cornwall, Greville of Warwick and Henry Neville of Latymer who marr. Joan Bourchier of Halstead. Henry Neville was a descendant of John of Gaunt and Joan Bouchier was a descendant of Thomas of Woodstock, both sons of Edward 111 and Phillipa of Hainault.Please note, the info sought is about Elizabeth Fowell and her brother John Fowell of Blackhall- any info.down to their descendants living today would be much appreciated, of course I am willing to share my info.

The above were my great great Grandparents. Edith Coombs (nee Farr) and William Coombs were my Great Grandparents. They all lived in Dittisham at some time and I know my Great Grandparents were married in Dittisham. My Gran, Doris Nicholson (nee Coombs) also lived in Dittisham. She tells me that my Great Gran's Sister, Flo was married to William Hart. I am trying to find out more about Phoebe Passmore and Christopher Coombs.

am researching William and Mary (Downing) Pinhay who had their children christened at Dodbrooke between 1810 and 1827. The abodes noted in the christenings were Goveton and Sherford. At the same time Richard and Sarah Pinhay were having children christened at Dodbrooke. As the naming pattern and given names were similar it raises the question is there a family connection. LUXTON / PEARSE - Dowland
Still trying to prove whether the John LUXTON m Elizabeth PEARSE 13-May-1779 and their children Mary, John and Wiiliam are the same family that appears in Topsham in 1799. A Mary (80), widow, is in 1841 Churchwardens Census of Topsham, and her parish is given as Dolton. The late entry made in 1842 states that she is dead. Elizabeth (90) was buried 28-Nov-1841.

James Coombes married Florence White Webber in 1922 they lived at Broadmoor Cottage Drewsteignton. I am looking for any information on his parents and any siblings, he was born approx 1886. His surname at birth may have no S at the end. He had three daughters, Audrey Mary, Dorothy Eileen and Kathleen Emma whilst at Broadmoor.

I am trying to find the parish in Plymouth where William Tancock was born in 1848. His family likely came from Drewesteignton, and he moved back there to marry a Mary Ann, living at Hr Budbrook Cottages. Why he was born in Plymouth I do not know, poss Dockyard work? I would like to find out who his father was, but Plymouth is a big area to search!

Fawden - Drewsteignton
My mother's father was descended from Thomas Fawden born in Drewsteignton in 1842, his father was Samuel b 1806. Does anyone know where Samuel was born and who his parents were? The surname gets variously reported as Fawdon, Foaden or even Bawden. Any infomation on other close relatives of this Thomas gratefully received.
