Military regiments
- Devonport
I have a JAMES BAILEY in my family tree who married one ELIZABETH WRIGHT in Devonport in January 1813, the parish register giving his occupation as "soldier".
Thereafter, the baptism records of his children, 1813-1816, indicate that he had become a civilian. Can anyone advise me as to which regiment he may have been discharged from? Thanks.

Joseph Robert Start Soper

Can anyone help with my search for information on Joseph Robert Start Soper my g.g.grandfather, particularly details of parents and his birth record. I think he was born in Devonport, Devon around 1813. He was a seaman on HMS Columbine around 1834-6. He was married in London in 1838 to Jane Selden Pearce Mortimer and had at least sons George Start Soper and Henry Mortimer Soper and daughters Hephzibah Lydia Soper, Jane Elizabeth Mortimer Soper and Hannah Maria Soper. I'm interested in any further information please.
