My LAVERS family lived in Cornwood and Plympton St Mary 18th-19th Century. Thomas LAVERS married Elizabeth BOARNS 1777 Plympton St Mary. Their son Philip LAVERS born Cornwood 1777 married Mary HORTON 1799 Cornwood. He later married Ann NEWTON 1809 PSM. He also later married Mary HONEY 1839 Plymouth. Philip LAVERS and Ann NEWTON's son was Philip LAVERS christened 1810 Cornwood. He married Elizabeth ANDREWS (born 1810 Ermington) 1839 PSM and they had 7 children Thomas, Philip, John, William, James, George and Elizabeth. James married Elizabeth Ellen LOCK 1885 Cornwood and they had Philip Alick, Arthur Nathaniel and Albert Francis. Philip Alick was my grandfather.

PERROTT (and variants) - Cornworthy, Devon - Cornworthy
Looking for information on the PERROTT family (somtimes spelled PARROTT, PERRIT, PIEROTTE, etc...) who lived in the Parish of Cornworthy from at least the early 1500's, according to early tax rolls. I have wills for John P (1583), his wife Alice (1586), and their oldest son Robert (1625). According to the information I have, a grandson, Edward (1615-1680), married Amy DOWN in 1638; Edward's son John (b. 1659) married Agnes TUKERMAN in 1689. I believe there may also be related family members living in the parish of Ashprington. I'm interested in any information about these families or about Cornworthy in the 16th and 17th centuries.

I am the Gt.Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandson of Arthur Hillman who married Mary Cloak in 1772 in the Parish Church in Coryton. My family were Slate Quarrymen who worked in the Slate Quarry in Coryton. Arthur had a son John Hillman Bap.1802 he married a Ann ?? from Ireland and they had a number of children. My line comes though their daughter Susan Hillman Bap.1838. She married James Evely and had a number of children. My line then comes through their daughter Susan Evely Born 1869. She married Arthur John Ford and had a number of children. My line then comes through their daughter Winifred Annie Ford born 1901. She married Stanley Geran and had 3 children. my mother Ruth Brenda Geran Born 1924 married Gordon Rafferty.Has anyone done research into the Evely or Hillman's family lines?? The Evely line is as follows: John Evely married Rebecca Friend in 1817 in Parish of Northlew, they had a number of children (9).James Evely (6th child) Born abt 1836 married Susan Hillman in Tavistock...

While i have no proof yet i believe that my ancestor, born 1800, namely Charles Richard WILKEY who was a son of William WILKEY and Mary GOULD may have some family WILKEY connections with Crediton. The above William WILKEY and Mary GOULD were marriedin 1791. Efforts to locate their issue so far indicate a large family. I am seeking information on a family of clockmakers, of whom James Bucknell was one. Their business was in Crediton. James married Sarah Norrish at Crediton on 7 Feb 1763 and they had 3 children: James (chr. 27 Mar 1765), Sarah (chr. 27 Sep 1769) andWilliam (chr. 26 Jan 1774). I am particularly interested to know if this William was the William who married Martha Wentworth (Porterdown, Co Armagh, Ireland) in or about 1813.

On 12th NOV 1758 I have found that James SHOPLAND married ERAIW ? BLATCHFORD, by banns at Crediton. Both made marks, as did witness JOHN SHOPLAND (parent or brother?) No other details known, so any information would be useful.

Crediton Poor Law Union 1850 - Crediton
Crediton Union - White - 1850 - p 267 comprises 29 parishes, an area of about 138 sq miles, & in 1841, 22,076 inhabitants. Their total average annual expenditure on the poor, during the 3 years preceding the formation of the Union in 1836, was £12,314. In 1838, their expenditure was £9955, & in 1849, £11,528. The Union Workhouse is at Crediton, & was built in 1837, at the cost of about £5000. It has room for 300, but has seldom more than 200 inmates. The Union isdivided into 2 relieving, & 9 medical districts. The Rev W Wellington is the chaplain, & William Comyns Leach & Mrs Leach are master & matron of the Workhouse. Mr Thomas Pring is union clerk & supt. registrar; W Wellacott & John Hookway are the relieving officers; & M/s J A Edwards, W H Hugo, William Deans, C Basely, J Body, J C Davy, W Luxton & W R Warren are the surveyors.

Passmore Family - Crediton
I am tracing GEORGE FREDERICK WOOD PASSMORE and his son also of the same name. GFW Passmore Senior was born in 1832 and married in Crediton in 1862 to Mary Ann King. His son GFW Passmore Junior ended up living in Walsall where I have successfully traced him and his family right up to his death here in NZ. He married his wife Ann Cozens in 1893 but it is his life prior to this that I have been unable to trace. Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Their daughter Bessie Harriet Morrish born 1875 Crediton had a child born as Horace Owen Morrish 1899 in Shobrooke, Devon, but known as Horace Owen Hodgon after Bessie married William Hodgon, soldier & police. William Hodgon was born about 1860 Windermere Westmoreland and married Bessie Morrish in 1900 at Crediton. Family living Exeter 1901. My great great grandad George Olding b1846 in Down st Mary married Jane Stoneman and they lived at Allerbridge where they raised five children Charlie, Ernest, Lucy, Alice and Emily - my great grandmother b 1873. Looking for photographs taken before 1946 of Bineford Farm between Yeoford and Hittisleigh. The Cornish family farmed there for 150 years. Also interested in tracing the origin of James Cornish who lived at Coleford before moving to Bineford in 1748. He was active in both Crediton and Colebrooke churches.

Seeking information on the family of John Haydon (born c1746 at Crediton). He married Sarah Glandvill (born c1750 at Crediton) at Newton St Cyres on 7 March 1770. Their daughter Ann ( born 2 June 1772 at Crediton) married Thomas Sharland ( born 1801 in 1 April 1794 at Stockleigh English. They had at least two children Elizabeth ( born 24 August 1794) at Stockleigh English and John (born 1801) Elizabeth married Richard Holman (born 23 July 1800 at Dawlish) on 27 June 1827 at Teignmouth. Who was the John Elston who married Charlotte Proctor in Bowder Hill Presbyterian Church in 1843? Was he the son of George Elston & Sarah Shepherd? or of Samuel & Elizabeth Elston or of William & Sarah Elston? Did John Elston (1776) and Grace Ward have a son named John? Would be delighted to share what I have found and share the task of taking it further.
