Orgreave - Tissington
My mother and father Arthur and Anne Taylor lived in Orgreave at the time I was born early 1947 with my sisters Margaret, Cynthia, Brenda and Christine. They worked for the Tippers at Lupin Farm but dad got ill and sot they moved to Drakelowe in April 1947. I was a tiny baby and born at the Victoria Hospital in the blizzard in early March.

Meakin - Tissington
My greatgrandfather was Hezikiah Meakin, he married Emma Allcock in 1868 at St. Mary's in Tissington, after they moved to Woodeaves and worked in the mill. They later moved to Bradford Manchester.

Meakin, Hezekiah/Bertha Allcock - Tissington
In 1871 census the name was transcribed as Meekin - living in Fenney Bently,Derbys. By 1891 find Hezehioch Meekin in Bradford(near neighbours of my Gt.Grandparents)with Bertha and six children

Woodeaves Mill - Tissington
My great uncle John Hilton Yates was manager of the mill from around 1882 at least to 1901. He can be found there in the 1891 and 1901 censuses, and his second son Percy was born there in 1883. His first wife Sarah died in 1895, aged about 37, and eldest son Alfred in 1898, aged 16. I notice a mention of John Milton Yates but this must be a mis-spelling because he is clearly entered as John Hilton Yates in those censuses and his mother's maiden name was Hilton.

Tissington - Tissington
My dad Arthur Taylor and mum Annie lived at Church House, Tissington in the early 40's. I believe dad worked on the estate and was in the Home Guard. My sisters, Margaret,, Cynthia and Brenda were children there. Its possible my sister Christine was born there also. Lady Nora Fitzherbert was at the hall at this time and was kind to my mother.

Samual Johnson - Tissington
I am searching for ant mention of Samual Johnson, DOB unknown who had a son Joseph, DOB 19 Dec 1774. He had an uncle with three sons, William, Edmund and Phillip. All went to Australia which is where I can pick them up. I can not find any infomation on Samual or his brother if any one in the Tissington area can provide infomation I would be grateful. Darrell

oldest cottage toadsmoor - Toadmoor
the cottage is reputed to be the oldest house in the original village of toadsmoor. now ambergate,it's thought that the cottage was occupied by a gunsmith to the Hurt estate.can anyone help particulary with identifing and dating the cottage.

Goodwin, Ann - Totley
Ann Goodwin married Thomas Fawcett (or Fauset) late 1820s. She was born in 1803, Totley (parents unknown) and died 1861. Thomas was a masonry contractor and worked on the bridges and tunnels of the railways being constructed in north England. They both died in Greenock, Glasgow. Their children were Samuel, Jane (marr. Dr W.McDonald), John, Sarah (marr. G.Sherman, Thomas, Ann, Mary Millison (marr. J.Orr) and Isabella (marr. J.Gillespie). I would be interested in contact with descendants.

Tupton, Woodthorpe and Crich. My Gt. Gt. Grandfather James FOULDS bap. 1827 (father not named) @ NWF the son of (Ann Foulds bap. 1798 @ NWF) or Elizabeth FOULDS bap. 1804- d. 1829 @ NWF who were both the elder daughters of (John + Ann (Foulds) Foulds) or Thomas + Ann FOULDS (no event details, (John and Ann had 8 children Ann, John, Mary, Jane, Elizabeth, William, Sarah, Mahala), Thomas and Ann had 6 children Elizabeth, Jane, Sarah, Thomas, William, Juliet all baptised @ NWF, *NOTE this anomaly has come about due to conflicting information on the CD of NWF Parish it gives James' mothers name as Elizabeth, I have since discovered that on the PR's his mother's name in entered as Ann? *if anyone can explain/unravel this I would love to hear from you. my Gt. Gt. Grandfather James FOULDS married Martha HIGGINBOTHAM b. 1829 @ Woodthorpe, in 1851 @ the Parish Church, Chesterfield, Martha the 6th daughter and 7th child of Edwardand Hannah (?) HIGGINBOTHAM, Martha and James had 7 children, John HIGGINBOTHAM (FOULDS on 1861 census)(no father named on birth reg.) b. 31/7/1847 @ Woodthorpe, Thomas Foulds HIGGINBOTHAM (FOULDS on 1861 and later census) b. abt. 1851 @ Woodthorpe, William Christopher FOULDS (my Gt. Grandfather) b. 25 Dec. 1854 @ Tupton, he was baptised 27 July 1856 @ St. Lawrence's Church NWF together with his sister Ann FOULDS b. abt 1852 @ Tupton and younger brother James FOULDS b. abt. 1856 @ Tupton (triple baptism), Ann FOULDS married ? and lived/died in Crich she had 2 children?, James Jr. as far as I can tell did not marry, the 6th and 7th child, Samuel FOULDS b. abt 1858 and Richard FOULDS b. abt.1861, I hav...

SANSOM - Tupton
I have traced back my Great Great Grandfather and two uncles to Tupton - Soloman, Isaac and Henry. They moved there from Quadring, Lincs. From there Henry and Soloman moved to Bestwood Village. They had other brothers and sisters who possibly stayed behind .... so if anyone is tracing Sansom family members from Quadring or Tupton I would be interested in hearing from you!

Joseph Radford - Turnditch
Joseph Radford married Esther Walker in 1820 at Kirk Ireton. They lived in Turnditch until at least 1829 when their last daughter, Ann was born. Their other children were John,Fanny and possibly Samuel, Joseph and Mary. I believe that Joseph was a publican in Turnditch. Does anyone have any information about any of these Radfords?

Does anyone have info on a marriage between (male) Allestree and (female) Furneaux c1520. Groom had a brother John alive in 1538. Bride is described as "heiress of Turnditch". Any info on these and their ancestors very welcome

Waterfalls - Two Dales
The Waterfalls of Two Dales lived Hazel Farm now Hazel House and Star Farm now Star cottage. Henry waterfall was my grt grt Grandfather my grt Grandmother was Sarah Ann who married Thomas Yates in 1859. Charles Osmond Waterfall was still living at Hazel Farm in 1918 when his son John was killed in 1918

In 1776 Sarah Bakewell married William Whitmore in Mickleover. Sarah was said to be from Stenson -in -Twyford. Her parents were William and Ellen (possibly Hind). Does anyone have any information on the Bakewell family?

William Whitmore of Findern inherited estate from his uncle John Bakewell of Twyford in 1806. Register of Spondon church has entry for July 1812 - 'William Whitmore of Twyford married Elizabeth Bradley'. Any information would be appreciated.

I am researching the Fowers family, who lived in Twyford, Derbyshire in the 1800's. I am interested in any information on Ann (formally Woods) Fowers, a cow keeper/milk seller, Born 1815 Gunthorpe, her hushand Francis Fowers, farmer/labourer (deceased by 1871) and their son Elijah (Edwin) Fowers, carpenter, born 8.4.1850, Twyford. Ann Fowers appears on census returns, 1871, 1881 and 1891. Another Fowers a Mary Ann Fowers appears on the 1881 census too??? Is she a relation too? Any information would be much appreciated.

My great grandmother, Maria Milner, was the sub-post mistress between 1880 and 1910 (although it states in the Directories that my gt.grandfather, William, was the sub-postmaster). In a photograph the post office appears to be in a row of stone cottages. Do these still exist? The address could have been Smithy Hill.

I am researching Ann/Hannah Berridge m John Amos 6 July 1807 Walton Upon Trent. She was baptised 19 Jan 1783 here also. Her parents were Lewis and Ann nee Yates. John and Hannah Amos emigrated to Van Diemans Land Australia in 1821 aboard The Emerald. Hannah had a brother William and sisters Martha and Mary. I have found William and wife Elizabeth nee Hunt and also Mary and husband John Hardy in census entries.

Searching for any information on the Disbrowe Family of Walton Hall, Walton-on-Trent, Derbyshire. Edward (d. 1818), was married to Lady Charlotte Hobart. Their son Rev. Henry John Disbrowe (d. 1867) was my gg grandfather. He spent the better part of his life as the rector of Welbourn, Lincs. He married Elizabeth Slater, who died in 1829.
