I was searching the web for Radford/Richardsons in and around Nottingham and came across a site relating to Smalley. I remember my father showing me a death certificate for one of my male ancestors from this area about 300 years ago. Sadly the certificate is missing now. I remember it because curiosly I shared the same middle name 'Radford'. Has any one any information relating to the Richardson or Radfords and in particular are there ant records I could research to see what happened to the Richardson after the turn of the century.

My gt, gt grandfather, Samuel Severn (born 1805) is recorded as living in Smalley on 1841 census and in Smalley Common in 1851. His son James and family is recorded as living at Ropewalk Cottage, Smalley Common in the 1871 census. Samuel's widow, Mary (Bloram) is recorded as living at 76 Nottingham Road, Smalley Common in 1871. In Samuel's will (1870), he left 4 houses at Smalley Common, plus a chapel to his son Robert. I should be grateful of any information about the family or properties, particulary the chapel and the whereabouts of Nottingham Road.

My grandfather Arthur Cyril WILKINSON b.abt 1898 and married to Edith GOODWIN b.abt 1896.
