I was searching the web for Radford/Richardsons in and around Nottingham and came across a site relating to Smalley.
I remember my father showing me a death certificate for one of my male ancestors from this area about 300 years ago. Sadly the certificate is missing now. I remember it because curiosly I shared the same middle name 'Radford'.
Has any one any information relating to the Richardson or Radfords and in particular are there ant records I could research to see what happened to the Richardson after the turn of the century.

My gt, gt grandfather, Samuel Severn (born 1805) is recorded as living in Smalley on 1841 census and in Smalley Common in 1851. His son James and family is recorded as living at Ropewalk Cottage, Smalley Common in the 1871 census. Samuel's widow, Mary (Bloram) is recorded as living at 76 Nottingham Road, Smalley Common in 1871. In Samuel's will (1870), he left 4 houses at Smalley Common, plus a chapel to his son Robert. I should be grateful of any information about the family or properties, particulary the chapel and the whereabouts of Nottingham Road.

Alec Smalley was a friend of my uncle who was killed in a motorcycle accident on Oct 28th 1934.Alec was either in front of my uncle or riding behind when my uncle ( Alfred Williamson )a BARBER residing in Riddings swerved to avoid a young couple on a cycle at the SML bridge in Riddings between Jacksdale and Codnor Park.If any Decendants of Alecs read this i would very much like to contact them to find out more about him as he was a close friend and if they have any information regarding that fatefull day.

Aaron BOOTH (coalminer) was married to Emily Ann ROBINSON & they had 3 children, Mary Adelaide, Aaron & Arthur. Emily died and Aaron remarried EmmaCHALKLEY of Luton & had a daughter Anna G. I am very interested in finding out about Mary Adelaide who married James Bernard SIMPSON but I do not know where or when. They emigrated to the US where they had a daughter, Gertrude Izzard and Marydied in childbirth having a second baby.

I am looking for any information about John Buxton and his children, Daisy and Fletcher.After his first wife, Ellen, died he emigrated to Ontario, Canada in about 1924, leaving his two children behind ,they stayed with relatives in Nottingham and Shirebrook until he sent for them to join him in Canada. Once in Canada he met and married again and had another family, I believe they all lived in Chatham, Ontario, and that is where John Buxton is buried.

This is my first posting here and I am beginning my research into my WILKINSON family of South Normanton / Derbyshire. Family members that I am so far aware of include my great grandfather William WILKINSON b.abt 1878 and married to Eliza Ann SPENCER b.abt 1875. My grandfather Arthur Cyril WILKINSON b.abt 1898 and married to Edith GOODWIN b.abt 1896. Arthur's brother and sister were Jack and Alice WILKINSON and the only child of Arthur and Edith was William WILKINSON b.1919. Other family related names include RYE, WAKLIN, HOLMES and WELSMAN. Any help would be much appreciated.

Seven Page children: Emma, Thirsa, Ann, Eliza, Martha, Ellen abd Elizabeth. 1841 census has him living at Ball Hill, South Normanton where his occupation is given as "Agricultural Labourer". By 1861 he was a colliery ????? (illegible in census)

I know she married THOMAS NEHEMIAH SPENCER BYARD on the 14th June 1891 at Wirksworth.
On the Wirksworth site it has her marriage but no fathers name has been added.

I have now found that ELIZA's mother was a HANNAH MARRIOTT Born Abt 1845 at Wessington father unknown.

Hi - my gran was born Elsie May Smedley at South Normanton. Her mum was Adeline Smedley, who later married Samual Bent. I have lots of info on the Smedleys if anyone wants it, but nothing at all on Bent - believed born at Sutton in Ashfield.
