I am looking into my family tree, and I can only trace as far as my great grandfather Alfred Stafford born 1883 Derby Risley , died 1952 Sandiacre. His father was Edward Stafford and mother Mary, Brothers were Arthur, Joseph and Garland, sisters were Alice, and Elsie. I know Alfred was in the Navy for many years, but I would like to know what happened to any relatives.

Barry/Bown - Shardlow
My Barry family left Shardlow around 1881 to go to Long Eaton. However in the BDM records I have a William Bown Barry born in shardlow in 1890, one of the Long Eaton Barrys- Mary Ann also known as Marrianne- married a Phillip Bown so I am assuming a connection. Can anyone help, also any information about the Barry family from Mallow, Co,cork who lived in Shardlow is of great interest to me.

I am looking for information on Francis Sparrow b about 1770 in Blackwell he married Sarah Wrigley in Shirland on 17 Dec 1810 in presence of Isaac Sparrow and Thomas Hadfield. Sarah was born in Shirland in 1772. They lived in Shirland and my gg grandfather William was born there in 1813 followed by Elizabeth 1815 and Sarah 1817 posibly others. William married Jane eastwood and moved to Skegby area. Sarahs parents William Wrigley and Clarissa Wright were married in Shirland in 1786. Do you recognise any of these names?

In my tree I have Reuben Riggott born c1845 who married Harriett. Children born to them were Mary, Reuben, and Elizabeth. Reuben snr was a miner and barber. His daughter Mary married Samuel Renshaw Marriott whose parents were Thomas & Eliza Marriott. He was adopted by Thomas Renshaw as a child.

My gt, gt grandfather, Samuel Severn (born 1805) is recorded as living in Smalley on 1841 census and in Smalley Common in 1851. His son James and family is recorded as living at Ropewalk Cottage, Smalley Common in the 1871 census. Samuel's widow, Mary (Bloram) is recorded as living at 76 Nottingham Road, Smalley Common in 1871. In Samuel's will (1870), he left 4 houses at Smalley Common, plus a chapel to his son Robert. I should be grateful of any information about the family or properties, particulary the chapel and the whereabouts of Nottingham Road.
