William Royse
- Hope
Searching for information on William Royse (born 1838, of Hope, Derbyshire). I have plenty of information on his life in New Zealand, but would like to know more about his family in Britain. His mother was Rachel Royse (nee Darwent) (born about 1812, Thornhill Moor, Derbyshire); his father was probably Isaac Royse, although I've also found it recorded as William Royse. William Royse left Britain for Australia and New Zealand (he probably went to Australia first; I am unsure when he left, but he was in NZ as early as 1861). He married Catherine McRae in Adelaide or Melbourne; his children were all born in NZ.

My link to Hulland is through my ancestor MILLICENT OSBISTON who had two illegitimate sons, Jonathan and JOHN by two fathers in 1712 and 1714. The first died but the second went on to father my line and marry Mary Whiteacre. I can't go reliably back beyond Millicient so anyone who can help would be very welcome to contact me. I have tried the Bradley records for the period but find them very difficult to read.
