Meakin/Chadwick - Heanor/Ilkeston - Heanor
I am researching my paternal family. My grandfather was Walter Meakin of Heanor who married Ann Chadwick from Ilkeston. They had 12 children (my father was no 11). Walter's father was John who married Elizabeth (I think Gillott) and owned a frameworks in Nook End in Heanor. They had several children, most of whom I have traced but there may stil be gaps particularly between 1853 and 1864. His father was Joseph married to Ann - the only relevant marriage I can find is Ann Gaskin in Heanor on 25 Dec 1832 which fits with John's birthdate. I think the Meakins prior to Joseph must have come from Ilkeston as the records seem to run out in Heanor. Any help or information appreciated.

Smith family of Heanor - Heanor
Hi, I'm trying to trace the history of Mary Ann Smith who MIGHT be my GGG Grandmother. I found an online listing for St Lawrence Church that had a baptism 28 March 1813 - mother Sarah, father (illegitimate). A Mary/Mary Ann of the correct age and place of birth went on to marry Joseph Bentley. All census from 1841 show them living at Yardley, Worcestershire/Warwickshire. I have not been able to locate: birth of Mary/Mary Ann, marriage of Mary and Joseph (stop laughing), birth of their 3 older children. I have purchased a birth cert for their dau Sophia showing Mary Bentley formerly Smith. This is the only record that indicates her maiden name. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I will be eternally grateful. Also if anyone can provide info on Mary's mother Sarah. Hope to hear from someone soon! Thanks.
