Looking for a link between Isaac Key born circa 1820 and John Key born circa 1820. They were born in Heage but cannot trace their parents. Isaac went on to live in Oakerthorpe and Swanwick and John farmed in Brackenfield. Can anyone help?

Does anyone have any information on Vincent Hawkins from Heage? He had a son, also named Vincent, who was born on or about 7/31/1800. It is my understanding he was a farmer and resided just outside Heage. Vincent, Sr., emigrated to America after Vincent, Jr., was born, but returned to England a few years later.

Rev Richard WHINFIELD b 29 Mar 1786 Orton Westmoreland was Rector of Parish church of Heanor DERBYSHIRE for 45 yrs, and died there 25 May 1866. His wife was Mary Ann RICHARDSON. A plaque to his memory and work, once positioned inside the church nearthe tower, appears to have disappeared in recent refurbishments. Two sons, Rev.John Frederick Richardson WHINFIELD b183- and James Richard WHINFIELD b 1834 Heanor, emigrated to Aus.

I am trying to find out more information on Henry Meakin, i don't know where he was born but it was definately in Derbys, i think he was born around 1795. He married Fanny West (from Ilkeston), they had around 6/7 children and they lived in Heanor. If anyone has any info on him then please let me know. Possibly the 1851 census would shed some light on him? I dont have access to that one, i do with all the others, so any help or info would be greatfully received.

Meakin/Chadwick - Heanor/Ilkeston - Heanor
I am researching my paternal family. My grandfather was Walter Meakin of Heanor who married Ann Chadwick from Ilkeston. They had 12 children (my father was no 11). Walter's father was John who married Elizabeth (I think Gillott) and owned a frameworks in Nook End in Heanor. They had several children, most of whom I have traced but there may stil be gaps particularly between 1853 and 1864. His father was Joseph married to Ann - the only relevant marriage I can find is Ann Gaskin in Heanor on 25 Dec 1832 which fits with John's birthdate. I think the Meakins prior to Joseph must have come from Ilkeston as the records seem to run out in Heanor. Any help or information appreciated.

Harold neal was my grandfather's Fred Neal (born 1872) nephew born 1897 at langley mill. Harold's Father was Joseph born 1863, mother Caroline Manchester born 1865. Harold became Bolsover Derbyshire MP for Bolsover Derbyshire for 20 years. His siblings were John Hollis, Ethel, and Mary Jane born 1888 Langley mill. If any relations of these 'Neal's are about, please contact me. I was surprised no mention of Harold was not on Labour's web site. I would love to hear of his works whilst a MP.

Smith family of Heanor - Heanor
Hi, I'm trying to trace the history of Mary Ann Smith who MIGHT be my GGG Grandmother. I found an online listing for St Lawrence Church that had a baptism 28 March 1813 - mother Sarah, father (illegitimate). A Mary/Mary Ann of the correct age and place of birth went on to marry Joseph Bentley. All census from 1841 show them living at Yardley, Worcestershire/Warwickshire. I have not been able to locate: birth of Mary/Mary Ann, marriage of Mary and Joseph (stop laughing), birth of their 3 older children. I have purchased a birth cert for their dau Sophia showing Mary Bentley formerly Smith. This is the only record that indicates her maiden name. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I will be eternally grateful. Also if anyone can provide info on Mary's mother Sarah. Hope to hear from someone soon! Thanks.

Samuel Haywood born Heanor 1821, wanted.... his parents and wife's Martha's maiden name. In 1841 census living Heanorfalls with 40 yr old Mary Marshall. What year did he die before 1861 census, I wonder? 1851; and now got 3 children Lewis aged 1, Elizabeth (my ggrandmother)born 1847, and Sarah 5yrs old. Martha age now given as 29. Any information most welcomed.

Stenson - Heanor/Ilkeston - Heanor
My Grandfather was Josiah Stenson (c1868). In the 1871 census he is called Josiah aged 2. sisters Caroline and Sarah. In 1881 census he is called Joshua, with sisters Caroline and Sarah. Ages match. Mother is Mary or May, Father John. Does anyone else have Josiah/Joshua in their family.

Allen - Heanor
Two of my great-great aunts married husbands called Allen, both men were born in Heanor but I have not been able to find out if they were related. Samuel Allen (born about 1801) married Mary Paulson in Derby in 1833, he was a tailor & draper, living in Tagg Hill. Samuel died in 1879 leaving a detailed will that lists many relatives. John Rowland Allen (born about 1818) married Sarah Paulson in Oxton, Nottinghamshire, 1843. He and his family are in Heanor Common in 1851, John is listed as a lace maker & journeyman. John & Sarah had at least five children: Fitzgeorge, Mary Ann, John & Lucy Ellen.

Researching the William (b1807) and Charlotte (b1806) Harrison family of Holbrook. In the 1841 ,1861 and 1881 census he is a farmer living at Holbrook. His family consists of John (b1831) Mary (b 1833) Rodger (b1834) Catherine (b 1839) Henry William (b1845) Elizabeth (b1847) and Charlotte (b 1850). I am interested in particular in Catherine who married Robert Gowland in Thirsk Yorkshire in 1865. Catherine died in1875 leaving two children Roger and Kate. Robert remarried Rebecca Stanhope (b1839 at Crich) and emigrated with the children to Maryborough Queensland Australia in 1878. Kate was my wife's ggrandmother.
