Job Sherlock - Alport
My Sherlock family are shown as coming from Alport in Youlgreave Parish Registers between 1739 & 1755. I am trying to find records of the birth of my earliest relative Job Sherlock who married Jane Milnes on 26th September 1736 in Youlgreave. Their children are shown as being born in Alport. In Paricular one son John Sherlock married Jane Oldfield in January 1774 & both died in 1794 Alport & were buried in Youlgreave.

I am trying to find out any information on Arthur Henry Jackson (known to the family as 'Sonny'). He was born in Derby area Oct-Dec 1932 to Arthur Jackson and Hannah Proudlove who had run the sweetshop in Alvaston Street, Alvaston from around 1931-1938. He was last seen by his sister Mabel in Tunstall, Stoke on Trent around 1939. I believe that Arthur Henry's father's family came from the Alvaston area.

Both sets of my grandparents came from Apperknowle George Monk (1888-1968) married fanny hardwick(1891-1978)in 1910.I have information regarding the Monk ancestors tracing back to Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire from about 1760's butmore recent history regarding g uncles' Marshall Monk who is thought to have been the publican of the Angel Pub Eckington, or George Henry said to have emigrated to Australia. All sons and daughters of Arthur Monk (1860 -1937) and Mary Ann Lucy Pont.I am also interested in anything about Sparrows living in Apperknowle area from 1864(again I have info regarding ancestors in Notts prior to that date. Any info regarding Ward's,Hardwick's orWright coming from the area would also be useful.

Sandy Brooks, Ashbourne? - Ashbourne
I have ancestors, family names Carrington and Silcock, from Sandy Brooks, Derbyshire. I have discovered from White's Directory that this is/was a village 1 mile north of Ashbourne and that there was a large hall there: "Sandy Brook Hall, ....., abeautiful modern mansion, near the Buxton road, with fine lawn and delightful plea­sure grounds, is the seat and property of Sir Matthew Blakiston, Bart." Does this building still exist? Is it, perhaps, part of the Sandybrook Country Parkcomplex? I assume that Sandy Brook has been swallowed up by Ashbourne now - can anybody identify the area for me in modern terms? Thanks for any help.

I have just discovered that my gtgt grandfather William Thompson was born in Ashbourne. Thanks to a very kind fellow Thompson researcher. William was born 1840/1841 and his father was John Thompson who at the time of Williams marriage in 1864 described himself as a horse keeper. William Redfern was born about 1827 in "Ashburn". In 1851 he was living in Glossop,Dby. with his in-laws, the Samuel Hadfield family. Can anyone help! My 3xgreat grandfather William Harris was born in Ashbourne in 1826/27 and his father was John Harris. On the 1841 census I have found a William Harris aged 15 living with John Harris aged 15 and John Harris aged 45. I think this could be the William I'm looking for especially because it looks like he was a twin and that runs in the family. William move to Wirksworth and married Elizabeth Ogdon. I am trying to find out anything about Percy ROBINSON who, in 1916, enlisted in the Australian Army, fought in France and left the Army in 1919. According to his Army papers he was 22 years and 2 months when he enlisted and was born in "the Parish of Ashburn near Derbyshire, England". This would put his birth approx 24 March 1894. He never went back to Derbyshire. Has anybody any information about this gentleman?

I'm looking for more information about a William Bradbury and his family, particularly his daughter Hannah and granddaughter Elizabeth. In 1851 William lived at Farr Green, Hanley, Stoke on Trent; aged 63, a butcher his place of birth is given as Ashbourne. He is listed in 1828 Piggot's directory as trading in Chapel Passage, Hanley. His wife was Elizabeth (possible nee Buxton). Children Hannah (possibly born in Ashbourne)about 1816, and the others born in Hanley: George (1821), John (1822), Elizabeth (1824) and Samuel (b1826 and living with his father in 1841). Hannah married Edwin Hill on 28th November 1838 and had at least one daughter, Jane Hill(later Birkin)but I think she may have already had a daughter, Elizabeth born about 1835. If anyone knows this family and especially the father of Elizabeth, please get in touch. Elizabeth married David Davies (Davis)a crate maker from Hanley in August 1855.

She married Thomas Stubbs in February 1871 (probably at St Oswalds) and had nine children in various places as the family travelled around the midlands. I am particularly interested to find out if her parents were the tragic George and Mary Ann Ollerenshaw of Back Lane, Ashbourne who died in 1876.
