Unmarried ancestors - Derby
Have been researching my Chapman ancestors and been given a lead that my maternal gt-gt grandmother may have been the result of a 'liason'! Grandfather Chapman's grandmother appears to have been one Eliza Byatt of Derbyshire. I'm still investigating this but it appears that Eliza is the daughter of George Byatt (born Markfield, Leicestershire) and Mary Marks of Panbride, Derbyshire. 1851 census gives George & Mary Byatt with daughter, Elizbeth aged 8. However, unable to find a birth for an Eliza or Elizabeth Byatt or a marriage for George & Mary. Does anyone have any suggestions as how best to further this research bearing in mind we could be skimming the start of readily available records?

The Crest Donisthorpe/Linton - Donisthorpe
My mother, Miss Olive Hayes, gave her address on my Birth Certificate as The Crest, Donisthorpe, B.O.T., R.D. in Feb. 1938. In 1939 an address was given for a relative, Ann Hayes as High Street, Donisthorpe. Ten years of research (from Arizona) has given no leads. Could it have been Linton (a slight deception) as Linton has a High Street and The Crest which runs off High Street? MY birth was at Chesterfield (via a home for unwed mothers) and the actual address of my mother at that time was in South Dore, Sheffield, where she was a housekeeper Any help with this family or address would be appreciated.
