Researching the Goodalls who farmed in Coton and Lullington circa 1800.Trying to find the parentage of a Hannah Goodall born abt 1780 who had a son William Watson Goodall born 1807.He was employed as butler/servant to William Worthington of Newton Park, Newton Solney and later worked as a clerk in the Worthington brewery business in Burton on Trent.William is my 2x G.grandfather. My ancestor, William Harris, was born in Coton in the Elms in 1801, moving to Hugglescote in the 1820's. I believe he had a brother called Thomas. 1841 census Creswell - Creswell
My great-great-grandfather Henry TAYLOR was born in Creswell, Derbyshire in circa 1834. By the 1851 census he was living in Liverpool, occupation apprentice pavior. I realise the 1841 census is not as detailed as later ones, but this is my only hope of finding a connection to his immediate family, as he remained in Liverpool after 1851. Wonder whether anyone would be able to provide details of a TAYLOR family in Creswell circa the 1841 census. Kind regards, Helen

ROBERT LOWE,1826/1889. Son HENRY LOWE 1861/? and may other LOWES living in and aroud Lea, Dethick and Holloway, and lately in West Bridgford Nottingham . Robert Lowe occupied the OLD HAT FACTORY at Lea and carried on a sucessfull business in the Wool and Angora trades. His son Henry and his family moved to NOTTINGHAM West Bridgford, Hound Road around 1800. his son ROBERT LOWE married my grandmother in 1902 and they produced 7 children his wife and children living in Netherfield, 1911 census. I have record of him on a marriage certifcate as father of groom.1939 . I now have a note of Robert Lowe moving to Canada and re marrying and fathering 6 ? children in Montreal / Qubec area he became Bell captain in the hotels thereabouts. Any more information welcome

From The Century Cyclopedia of Names 1895 Sir Richard Arkwright was born at Preston 23rd December 1732, he died at Cromford Derbyshire 3rd August 1792. He was knighted by George III in 1786. He invented a cotton spinning frame and established factories at Cromford and elsewhere.

Richard Imisson aged 41 born in Curbar, Derby was recorded as Head, occupation Iron Moulder. His wife was Alice aged 36 , born in Sheffield. There were a large number of Ellis families living in Curbar in the first half of the 19th century. The men were mainly all stonemasons. Joseph Ellis (1789-1868), my maternal 3gt grandfather was one such Ellis. Most of his sons left Curbar in the 1840s/1850s to live and work in Ecclesall Bierlow. My great grandfather Thomas Ellis eventually moved from Sheffield to Middlesbrough in the 1890s. Anyone with an interest in this Ellis family or who may be descended is welcome to contact me.
