I have been researching my NOBLE line for about 12 years. I am decended from

traced back to RICHARD NOBLE (b. Chesterfield 1693 son of JACOB). His son
PAUL NOBLE married ELIZABETH JOLLEY in Derby in 1768. Paul's son JOHN and

Shoemaker born in Derby in 1775, JOHN and ANN had a son THOMAS NOBLE born
in Derby in 1821. THOMAS was a silk twister and married LOUISA HALLOTT in
Derby in 1841. They had 4 children that I know of, the eldest son was my 2
x greatgrandfather JOHN NOBLE, a boilermaker, born in Derby in 1848. JOHN
married SELINA LLOYD in Derby in 1868 and then shortly afterewards the
whole family (including THOMAS and LOUISA) moved to NOTTINGHAM. The line
continued with THOMAS NOBLE, cotton presser, born in Nottingaham in 1876.
THOMAS married MARY ANN KEETLEY in Nottingham in 1898 and the family lived
in great poverty. My grandfather GEORGE NOBLE was born in Nottingham
Bagthorpe Workhouse in 1904.
I have a lot of data concerning the name NOBLE in both Derby and
Nottingham. I would be happy to share my data with other researchers and am
also interested to know if anyone is able to sh...

Derby newspaper article - Derby
I am seeking any item relating to an accident which happened to GEORGE NELSON GRANT probably in the year 1867
My gt grandfather worked as a GPO member on the railway and on his retiral in 1867 it was mentioned that this was an early retirement due to his serious accident on the railway, seems to have affected his eyesight? Although I have his working record obtained from the GPO archives and his accident is mentioned as the reason for retirment, unfortunately they have given no details as to where when & how the accident happened, only that it was serious and that he received compensation in two lots, one for £40 and another for just over £40, this would have no doubt been a considerable sum in 1867.
I am hoping that this accident may have been mentioned in a local Derby newspaper of that year and wonder if anyone could offer to look this up in the local record office (I live in Essex and being disabled am unable to travel to look for myself) if anyone could offer to look for me, I would be "over the moon", I am writing up the details of my family history research in the form of a "book" and trying to find out as much as I can about my gt grandfather, he has provedd to be rather an elusive figure of some mystery, there are no relatives now living that could answer any questions about him, and nothing was ever spoken about him by my mother. My g,mother his daughter, died when I was still a child and there is much about her life I do not know, particularly about her father.
Around the year of the accident, he would have been living I assume, in Rose Hill Street, Derby, my g.mother was born there in 1874, previous to then, the family were living at Louden Street, which I believe would have been near the same area as Rose Hill?
The accident of course, may not have happened in the Derby area, but because he lived there I am hoping that there may have been a mention about him in a local paper.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
