Jones - Llandegla
I am researching the family of my Gt. Grandfather William Jones who farmed at Tafarn-y-Gath, just outside Llandegla on the A525 road. He lived there from Circa 1850 until his death in 1899. He was a Welsh Bard ('Ehedydd Ial') and wrote a book of poems and hymns entitled 'Blodau Ial', published in 1898 - I have a copy.
William was born in 1815 in Derwen, Denbigh and married twice. His first wife was Alice Evans and I think she may have originated from Aigburth, Liverpool. His second was Hannah....?? Between them they had 17 children.
On his death William was buried in the Parish cemetery at Llandegla followed by two of his children, David - 1903 and Sarah Hannah - 1904. In 1906 his second wife Hannah was laid to rest beside them. Williams first wife Alice (nee Evans) was 34 years old when she died in the late 1850's. Her last resting place is still a mystery. I should be delighted to hear from anyone who can connect.

Llangollen Parish Divisions - Llangollen
From Reports of Charity Commissioners Vol 32 c1840's
Parish of Llangollen 160
This parish is divided into three traians or districts called Llangollen Traian, Trevor Traian, and Traian y Glyn. They have one church in common, with a churchwarden to each. The two former, lying contiguous, unite in raising rates and paying their poor; but the traian of Glyn, being separated by an intervening mountain, raises its rates separately, and pays its own poor; and removals take place from one portion of the parish to the other. The same rule of separation is generally observed in the application of the charities. Each traian contains several townships.
