ALLASON/ALLENSON FAMILY
- Egremont
My .Gt. grandmother was Jane ALLASON/ALLENSON born c1820-25 in Egremont, CUL (according to the 1851 census for Liverpool). Jane wed Thomas MIDDLETON (b1830 DENT YKS) at St. Nicholas church Liverpool (C of E) 1850. On the marriage certificate her surname is given as ALLENSON & her father as Richard a shoemaker. One of the witnesses was a John ALLENSON (her brother perhaps?) There aren't any ALLENSON names in the 1851 census for Egremont - but I found a Richard ALLASON a widower & shoemaker with his sons & daughters living at East Side Main Street (they were also in the 1841 census). I have also found the baptism's (at various churches) of all the children mentioned in the census - except for Jane. Does anyone connect to either of the surnames in Egremont or nearby? Do you know of a Jane ALLENSON/ALLASON who wed a Thomas MIDDLETON?
Any help appreciated.

Henry Gates - Egremont
Henry Gates born in Egremont first appears on the 1871 census in the Hale household with Alfred Gates born 1859. In the same year Frances Gates & Edwin Gates appear in the household of McGhie at Rose Cottage. Feel sure these must be brothers or cousins. Henry Gates marries Sarah A Pape of Workington & they have 7/8 children before Henry dies in June 1899. Alfred then becomes Albert & appears in the household of Francis & Margaret in 1891 & then with Henrys wife Sarah after his death in 1899. Would anyone have any information that could lead me back to Henrys parents. This is turning into a real mystery. Thank You. Sandra.
