Messenger/Braden/Lidster/Moore - Workington
I have an old photo of a woman on the frame of the photo it says Abel Mcdonald (photographer) 25 & 27 Fisher Street Workington. I also have another old photo of a woman and on the frame it says Henry Mayson Artrooms and Lake Depot Keswick. I think that the photo's may be connected to Braden/Messenger/Moore/Sewell and possibly Lidster. Anyone searching those names? Any clues would be appreciated. Karen

Mary Jane Coupland - Workington
Researching my Greatgrandmother Mary Jane Coupland born c1859 Workington. Parents John and Mary Coupland. Mary had a sister Ann born c1868. Mary married Frederick William John Fairbrother 08/05/1881. They had four children Annie Elizabeth born c1882 in Workington, Frederick William born c1885 in Workington, John Coupland born c1887 in Yorkshire, and one other daughter, name unknown. Mary died 30/06/1895 and Frederick re-married to Margaret Jane Graham, but in the 1901 census his children are not living with him and his new wife. I have found Annie living in Cockermouth at The Globe Hotel in Bridge street, her brother John is living with his Uncle and Aunt, Tom and Elizabeth Cowan, in Cockermouth. I can find no trace of the other brother Frederick. Any help greatly appreciated Maria

They had a daughter called MARY F. in 1901 in Workington. Charles and Frances' other children were Martha, b. 1880. Charles jnr, b. 1883. Mary Ann, b. 1884 and William J, b. 1885. Charles sen. had a sister also called Mary Ann whom we believe died young in Workington. It is from this older Mary Ann that we are descended. Looking for Samuel Fox - Workington
I am looking for any detail relating to Samuel Fox (b 1801) in Workington. His parents were (I believe) Samuel and Ann Fox. Samuel worked as an itenerant photographer, moving at one point to Dublin where he met his wife Catherine Molloy and there they had two of their five children (Annette and Blanch). He then moved to Sussex with his family where he set up a photographic studio. It was here that their remaining three children were born (Catherine - my great grandmother), William and Anna.

JACKSON/KEY - Workington
Frances JACKSON of ....gate in Workington married James KEY of Arlecdon 13 February 1847 in the District Church of St John Workington. Her father was recorded as John JACKSON, husbandman and a William JACKSON was a witness. Frances (Fanny) went on to live the remainder of her life on a farm called Arlecdon Parks. Information from the 1901 census says Frances was born 1825 in Distington, Cumberland. She died at Arlecdon Parks, Cumberland 8 December 1911 aged 87. Anybody researching this family?
