Does anyone know this ROBINSON family pre or post this 1871 census information: John abt 1861 Margaret abt 1861 Mary abt 1853 William abt 1855 and William (Head) abt 1826. All children listed under Whitehaven but father Scotland. On 1881 British census it says Mary from Wicklow Ireland!! Mary married in Whitehaven 1873 to John Potts and subsequently to Australia. Can anyone recognise this family please.

milburn family - Whitehaven
looking for relations of the late John Milburn who died in the 1947 mining disaster. He left a wife and three children, named Mary, John and Raymond I think. His parents were Thomas and Mary Milburn - nee Kirkwood who married in Newcastle in 1905. He had lots of brothers and sisters, Kitty, Rose, Thomas, James, Joseph, Ann and Terry. I am looking for any information on William Cowell, a mariner originating from the Isle of Man. He married Elizabeth Jardin in St Bees in 1822 and there is an Esther Cowell mentioned as a marriage witness who could be a sister. I have found the following children so far: Catharine, James, William, Elizabeth, Anne, and David. The 1851 census shows him in 2 Cooks Court, Marlbro Street, Whitehaven, with his wife and children Ann and David, and his niece Jane Brown. No place of birth is given, so I'm rather stuck. Wiliam Corlett b.1798 in IOM/Cumberland married 25/9/1820 in Moresby, Cumberland to Esther Scott b.1802 Whitehaven. Children included William b1821, Joseph b1822, Elizabeth b1824, Esther b1826, Ellinor b1829, William b1830, Sarah Ann b1834, Mary Ann b1835 & Thomas Scott b1837 all born in Whitehaven then Eliza Ann b1835, John b1841 & Robert b1843 all in Birkenhead. Many of the Corlett family were Mariners and originated from the IOM. Later names by marriage include Stott, Ellis, Wright, German, Mostyn, McDevitt, Bennett,Hart, Gill & Fowlkes.

Mayor of Whitehaven - Whitehaven
I am researching Samuel Turner who was mayor of Whitehaven from 1925 for two years. He owned a bakery and was an alderman. He was also oneof the rescue team during the Wellington Pit Disaster of 1910 for which he was awarded the George Medal. He had seven children. I would love to hear from anyone with information on him or his children. I do have a very extensive family tree on the Turner family and i am happy to share the information.

Am doing family tree on above and would like information on John Thomas McQuire born 1885 Married Elizabeth Ann Brown around 1908. Children: Ida, Constance, John, Margaret, Elizabeth. John Thomas went gold mining in South Africa at some point. Would like details on John's parents Matthew McQuire (Coalminer)possibly from Arlecdon, & his wife Elizabeth Thompson. Also would like information on John Thomas' wife Elizabeth Ann Brown, siblings believed to be Margaret Brown, Mary A Brown, Sarah Brown & Adelaide Brown (latter went to Canada and lived in British Columbia (Vancouver). John Thomas Mcquire resided at 64/65 Mill Street, Frizzington died in 1934; Elizabeth Ann died in Withington, Wythenshaw in 1937 and was living in Nell Lane Withington. Her daughter Constances resided at 106 Ringway Road Moss Nook, Nr Manchester Airport. The youngest daughter, Elizabeth, known as Elsie, my mother, lived with Constance after their mother's death. 1901 Census shows Margaret Brown (widow) living at 26 Quay Street, Whitehaven. Margaret Brown was married to an Isaac Brown. Any history on these people would be appreciated.

Kelly, White - Whitehaven
I am searching for members or information of the Kelly Family or White Family. My father John William Kelly was born in Whitehaven in 1951. His father John Kelly known as 'Bernie' was a Charge Engineer at an electric power station. He was married to Ida White. They had 3 daughters all significantly older than my father - Margaret, Joan and Patricia. I know that the power station had a failure and my grandfather was injured badly in it in the late 1950's. He died when my father was 11. They used to live at 3 Lincoln Road, Hensingham. If there is anyone who remembers them or related I would love to hear about the family. My grandmother emigrated to Australia in 1966 with my father. The daughters all emigrated but later on.

Maybe Whitehaven Mariner - Whitehaven
On November 22nd 1806 Thomas Mossop Mariner maried a Janet Mcdougal at Greenock Refrewshire they had children there till 1823 and apart from the youngest child my ancestor there is no trace of the family in Scotland after this. It is suggested as Mossop is not a Scottish name Thomas may have come up the coast from Cumberland. Does anyone have any information on this Thomas.

1871 Census - Whitehaven
I am trying to find information on my Gt Gt Gt Grandfather Joseph Brown (originally from Scotland)who is listed as a farmer of 88acres in the 1871 census. His wife Mary Brown, children: James Brown, Joseph Brown,Margaret Brown and William H Brown. I found Margaret married in the 1891 census but cannot find any trace of the rest of the family. Address: Winscales. Could anyone give me any information on that farm/ house or any of the above. They had servants listed there so I assume it may well have been a sizable property and it may still be standing and possibly converted. I would be grateful for any information.

Robert Gilpin married Mary Jane Bowden in 1856, David Gilpin married Jane Taylor in 1855, Joseph married Sarah Balfour in 1861. Robert,David and families emigrated in 1866 to Australia where they lived in Newcastle, NSW. Their brother Joseph and his family went to Canada, then later lived in USA. Henry Gilpin later remarried in Cockermouth to Anne Mylechreest in 1856. Would there be any descendants of these people still living in the area of Whitehaven, Cleator or St Bees, Cumberland

I am looking for the marriage of James Wood and Mary Ramsey probably in Whitehaven around 1810-15. Mary had a number of sisters who all married there at that time, but there is no sign of her marriage. Her sister Jane married Matthias Spedding, master mariner, Rebecca married Wilson Pearson, all three sisters ended up in Liverpool by 1820.

My ggf William's older brother, John, was adopted by the Mormon's at age 15 and moved to Utah.

I am trying to get information on David Brrowdale b 1817 lived in St Bees parish Church of St James. he was captain owner of the ship the "Park Nook" sailing from Whitwehaven. His son in law was J Richard Thompson. I am trying to find out ho his wife was. I know her name was Mary. His son was John Borrowdale Thompson who was born at sea in the North Pacific. I am looking for a wedding location or a place of birth of Richard . With these I could get certificates which would give mothers maiden name.
