Hayton/ Smith
- Silloth
I am researching my family history of my father.
He was Pattinson Hayton (1916 -2000 b. Carlisle), his father was Amos Hayton (1874 ? 1955 b. Wigton), mother Annie Smith (1888 ? 1975 b. Silloth). His Grand father was Pattinson Hayton (1821 ? 1882 b. Bowness), Grand mother Jane Hayton (1832 -1905 b. Little Bampton). Jane Hayton had been married previously to an Irving; I cannot find her maiden name or any reference to the first marriage. I think I also have his great grand parents, Amos and Barbra Beaty married 1808 in Wigton.
I was always lead to believe that Pattinson originated from a grandmotherŐs maiden name, this I now feel is incorrect as I have come across quite a few Pattinson Haytons . It would be great to find out the link.

Elizabeth Jardin
- St. Bees
I am looking for any information on Elizabeth Jardin, born approx. 1803. She married William Cowell in 1822 in St Bees and I have found the following children so far: Catharine, James, William, Elizabeth, Anne, and David. The 1851 census shows her and her husband at 2 Cooks Court, Marlbro Street, Whitehaven, together with Anne and David, and a niece, Jane Brown. Jane Brown's birth certificate gives her mother as Ann Jardine, making her Elizabeth's sister? Could anyone who recognizes the name please get in touch. Many thanks, Petra

Bateman
- St Bees
Angus Bateman (b. about 1785) married Ann Robinson (b. about 1788) in St Bees, Cumberland, on 15 Feb 1808. By 1841 they were living in Bolton Lancashire, although some of their children had apparently been born earlier in Hull, Yorkshire, and later moved there. The family were involved in the linen industry, the men as flax dressers. I would like to find the origins of Angus and Ann, and any relationships to the other Batemans and Robinsons in the Whitehaven area or elsewhere. Please contact if you have any information, or just have an interest in this family.

mary gate
- Thornthwaite
mary gate was the daughter of daniel gate and Mary Gate, nee Wright. She was born around 1833 and married Jonathan Scott in 1852. They had two children - Jane Ann and John. Mary died in 1856.
Jane Ann ultimately married Albert Nicholson in 1873 but I have no real information on her up to that point. Apparently, Jane Ann lived with her grandmother Mary Gate and John stayed with his father Jonathan after Mary died. Any info on Daniel Gate and Mary Gate + daughter Ann and son John (who I cannot find) would be appreciated.
