John BAINBRIDGE b c1805 in Alston became a coal miner in Tyneside and later Durham. His children seem to have been born at Long Benton, Northumberland in the 1830s and 40s. Also, can anyone confirm that Eleanor (Elena?) b1831 in Long Benton was one of John's children? Finally, any information on his wife Ann, b1811 in Bywell, Northumberland? Thanks, Jim

Randalholme
- Alston
My grandfather George Lee was born c 1877 at Randalholme near Alston to an Annie Lee, the daughter of William Lee and Elizabeth Armstrong. My understanding is that Annie emigrated to America soon after this time, leaving her young son behind.
She was not married so George retained the surname Lee.
I wonder if anyone has any information about the family that could help me find out more. William was born around 1829 in Kirkhaugh. His father was a Thomas Lee and his mother was born Ann Walton. They lived at Low Row, Kirkhaugh, NBL in 1841.
Thanks,
Christine

Richardson/Ritson/Waugh
- Alston
My 2 x great grandmother, Ann Richardson, was born in Alston - circa 1820. Sister to Edmund who married Margaret Waugh, and dughter of Thomas and Nancy Richardson of Alston. My grandfather, William Ritson, was born in Haltwhistle in 1846 and appears to have been brought up by Edmund and Margaret. I suspect that Ann died in her 20s and father was unknown or uncaring! Edmund and William used the names of Richardson and Ritson but seem to have settled on Ritson by about 1860. Both were coalminers, eventually settling in the Wylam and Prudhoe area. Can anyone help with further information please?
Many thanks
Mary
