Nicholas / Nichlas in Crowan, Helston, Sithney, and Redruth - (Crowan - Cornwall)
I am researching my family from Cornwall and am hoping that someone may be able help me?
I have Thomas Nichlas born in Crowan in 1706
Thomas was born to William Nichlas and his wife, Christian Treleeva in the parish of Crowan. He was baptised on the 12 December 1706 in the parish church.
At the age of 20, in Sithney, Thomas married Frances Rapson who was just 17. Frances was the second of ten children born to Thomas Rapson and his wife, Frances Saundry.
On 8 November 1728 their first child Thomas was born. He lived for just 9 months and died 4 August 1729. Their second child, Mary, was born 30 March 1730 but only lived for 8 months and died 21 October 1730. Athanasius is the only viable child of their union and his mother Frances died when he was just three years old on 20 February 1734.
Thomas then married 28 year old Mary Hodge on 7 April 1735. The couple had their first child Frances, 24 February 1735. Once again this child died on 21 October 1737 aged only 22 months. Their last child is Thomas. He also died, on 26 September 1740.
Thomas Nichlas died in 1792, aged 82.
William Nichlas b 1670
William Nichlas was born in Gwinear, Cornwall on 10 November 1670. His father was James Nichlas.
William married Christian Treleeva on 4th April 1702 in Helston, Cornwall.
The couple had 6 children, all born in Helston:
Jane 1702
Mary 1705
Thomas 1706 - 1792
Christian 1713
Lucretia 1718
Elizabeth 1721
I would like to know if anyone could shed any light on these two families?

Harvey and Wasley families - (Cusveorth Coombe - Cornwall)
I descend from John Harvey (born c 1823) and Hannah P Wasley (born c1823) according to the 1842 census, they both lived in Cusveorth Coombe with their respective familes prior to getting married in 1846 and having a son (John Polsue Harvey) in 1847. Some time after this birth they moved to Australia - possibly first to South Australia - then definitely to Western Australia in 1859. Hannah was the daugher of Joseph Wasley and Susanna Polsue, and John is possibly the son of Jane Martin and Paul Harvey. This last detail is uncertain. If you have any information on any part of this family tree, I would be very interested in sharing information. Ta

My Great Grandfather, Job Hockaday (1829-1931) was Secretary to the Delabole Slate Company, and traces of his first house were still visible near the top of the quarry a few years ago. The youngest of his 11 children was Percy, who married Margaret Ellen WILLIAMS before he went to sea, dying in Vancouver in 1953.
He left a daughter, Gwladys, who I believe was a music teacher. She married Giulio QUADRANI, who had been an Italian POW in the area in WW2. When where were Gwladys and Giulio born, married, died an buried?

Descendants of William and Thomas LOBB's Family:CORNWALL DEVORAN/CARNON GATE - (Devoran - Cornwall)
William LOBB born 1809 in Cornwall, England, died May 1864 in San Francisco. His younger brother, Thomas LOBB born 1817 in Cornwall, England died in DEVORAN, Cornwall, England in 1894. There is a small memorial garden to their memory at Devoran in Cornwall, UK. They were two of England's pioneering plant hunters during the 1840's and 1850's, travelling the world looking for 'new' plants for their employer to propagate and sell to Victorian gardeners. Does anyone have any knowledge of the whereabouts of their 'specimen books' or other artefacts of their's please? Or any papers and letters relating to them? Unfortunately their employer's records were mostly destroyed during the late 1900's. They both worked for the famous Veitch nurseries. Known descendants are REYNOLDS,COFFIN and JEFFREE families. Please contact me via curiousfox if you think you have any snippet of information. Thank you.
