Tolgarrack, Tuckingmill
- Tuckingmill
My 4x grt. grandfather Charles Vivian may have retired to Tolgarrack, Tuckingmill, Camborne abt. 1820 with his family after being employed in Neath, Glam. by The Neath Abbey Iron Comp. 1793 - early 1800s and later probably at Tredegar in the Parish of Bedwellty. Still trying to find the exact whereabouts of the latter, he was probably employed by The Tredegar Iron Company. His dau. Elizabeth married Johnathon Miles in 1818 at St Sannan`s Parish Church, Bedwellty. Jonathon was a Patternmaker at The Tredegar Iron Company. His son Charles Vivian was employed there in 1830 as Agent. His son John Vivian died at Tredegar in 1838 of an accident. His dau. Mary died at Tolgarrack in 1850 after moving there from Tredegar. She was living with her sister Elizabeth and her family in 1841 at Tredegar. His son William Vivian died in 1872 at Tollgarack. Edward Vivian died at Tuckingmill
in 1886 his youngest son. Both William and Edward were born blind.

Giles In St Teath
- Withiel
Hello Cornish Cousins!
I am researching my family, which centered around St.
Teath after 1830. I was wondering if anyone out there is researching the Giles family (and
related families) in St Teath and surrounding parishes up until the 1900s. I am also trying
to track down any other Withiel-born Giles members that married, lived or had children in
other parishes.
My direct relatives, the family of my ggg-grandfather, William Giles, emigrated to Wayne
County, Pennsylvania in 1857 from Treburgett hamlet in the parish of St. Teath. William
Giles and his brother, John Giles, Jr., relocated from their birthplace in Withiel to St.
Teath sometime in the 1830s, married ÒlocalÓ girls, bought or leased new farms, and
started families. William married Catherine Mills from St. Tudy parish in 1835. John, Jr.
married Mary Anne (unknown surname) from neighboring Michaelstow parish, although
weÕre not sure of the marriage date yet. William and Catherine had at least 7 children, all
born in St. Teath: Emily (1838), Catherine/Kathryn (1841), Mary (1842), Christopher
(1844), John (1846), Grace (1848), and James (1850ish). John, Jr. and Mary Anne had 3
children, all born in St. Teath: Philip W. (1855), John (1857), and...
