Body Family From Callington, In Eastern Cornwall
- Callington
My own branch of the BODY Family originates in nearby QUETHIOCK. My Gx5 Grandfather, John BODY, married Thomasine TOLL at St. Hughs Parish Church, QUETHIOCK, in July 1731. In the Course of my research, I have traced several other Branches of the BODYFamily, in EASTERN CORNWALL and WESTERN DEVON. Among these are the BODY Family in CALLINGTON. I have traced them back to William BODY and Elizabeth CONDY, who married, about 1827, at STOKE CLIMSLAND, CORNWALL. Most of their Children were born in Callington. William BODY was born, on 25 November 1798, probably in SOUTHILL, CORNWALL. I have traced the Ancestors of William BODY back to his GX2 Grandparents, Stephen BODY and Phillipa CRAGOE, who married, on 6 April 1702, at St. Cuby Parish Church,DULOE, CORNWALL. I have details of MANY OTHER BODY DESCENDANTS OF THIS COUPLE, IN CORNWALL, OTHER COUNTIES IN ENGLAND AND OVERSEAS. I would like to exchange information with other Researchers.

MARY BARRETT GEAKE / ARCHELAUS BARRETT / ROBERT PEARCE / CALLINGTON / PILLATON
- Callington
Looking for information on, or descendents of, Mary Barrett, also known as Mary Barrett Geake (nee Pearse). She was born at Pillaton in 1798 and had an illigitimate son (Robert Pearce, 1827). She then married a labourer named Richard Barrett Geake and lived at Moonfields Cottages, Callington in the 1840s / 50s but known variously as Mary Geake or Mary Barrett. Likewise, her sons variously used either Barret or Geake as a surname : Richard 1832/ Edward 1834 / Archelaus 1839. They were probably all born in Callington. the name Archelaus comes from further back in the PEARSE line (Pillaton). Any connections here ??

John Hooper & Ann
- Calstock
I'm seeking JOHN HOOPER, whose wife Ann was born in Calstock around 1810. John was a copper miner. They had a son John, who was probably born around 1834-5 in Calstock. The family does not appear in the 1841 or 1851 censuses, as far as I can see. At some point the younger John moved north to work as a lead miner in Shropshire and Alderley Edge, Cheshire. He married Isabella Richards, (born St Erth, around 1835) in Cheshire, at Wilmslow Parish Church,on 21 Oct 1860. They had four children, born variously in Shropshire and Cheshire. At some point before 1866 (the younger) left for Australia. They never saw him again. Anybody know anything about this family, or where they might have been around 1841 - 1851?

Camborne
- Camborne
Great gr grandfather Edward GEORGE lived there with his family from 1805 to 1877. His death certificate describes him as a retired gold miner. He married Maria Trevela 1804-1874 a grandaughter of James Trevailer b. 1733 & Mary Pearce and also grandaugher of Stephen Rule b. 1734 and Anna Rowe b. 1730. His son, Joseph 1831-1900 b. Tuckingmill married an Amelia Stephens (1835-1917) born Twyardreath and married Stoke Climsland. They migrated to South Australia in 1854. Joseph gave away mining to become a baker and pastrycook serving copper gold and tin miners in Australia. Would love to know how the family came to live in Cornwall, but can only go back to Joseph's grandfather, Edward who married a Mary Pearce in Illogan in 1793. Before that is shrouded in mystery, but hopefully someone in Cornwall can shed some light on the matter!
