Arscott
- St Columb Major
I am descended from John Arscott who was road warden of St Columb Ma.in about 1708. And his son James (1720-1805) who lived at "Rosedinnick", was a millwright and landowner and has a tombstone in the churchyard. Property named in his will includes "Carter's tenement" and "Hoskins' or Doncaster tenement". I can't find out where John came from. There was a prosperous Arscott family in Devon though.

Mitchell
- St Columb Major
My great grandfather, John Nankivell Mitchell, was born in St Columb in March 1862. He trained somewhere in Cornwall as a flour miller before emigrating to Australia, according to family 'legend' at the age of 18, which would make his arrival around 1880. Apparently his sweetheart, Annie Hooper followed him and by 1886 my grandmother was born in Bathurst NSW where JNM was managing a flour mill owned by the Crago family.
I also became a flour miller and would like to identify the mill where he trained, preseumably as an apprentice.

Key Family - Gwennap/St Day
- St Day
I am descended from Nicholas Key who married Eleanor Michell in Gwennap 25/06/1794. Eleanor was said to be from Redruth and Nicholas was recorded as a 'sojournor' (I think he may have been a blacksmith). However, there is a record of an Eleanor Michell being baptised in Gwennap on 13/06/1774. Nicholas and Eleanor had 3 children: Eleanor, Joseph and John born in Gwennap between 1795 and 1798. I am descended from Joseph who married Sally Brokenshire in St Wenn 22/10/1821. The family later moved to St Just in Penwith in the 1830s where they stayed until the 1880's when my part of the family moved to Brotton, Yorks. I am happy to share more information with anyone who is interested.
