Does anyone have any information on the Hogg family who moved to Chester from Berwickshire via Liverpool in around 1845/1850? Very large family including John (1827), Alexander (1832) and Robert (1845)- have information on my branch of the family, but would like to know more.

JAMES BIGGS - Chester
My great great grandfather James Biggs was born in Chester on 8/8/1807, and baptised at St Marys on the Hill. The register gives his parents names as Job and Mary Biggs, and Jobs occupation 'labourer'. I cannot find anyrecord of them anywhere else although the 1841 census has an Elizabeth and William Biggs aged 45 and 50 living at Brooks Alley Handbridge, and William alone in the 1851 census with his birthplace listed as Howden Yorkshire.I now know that William was the brother of James and that he was born at HAWARDEN Flintshire, and not in Yorkshire,that he married in 1834 and that his wife was Elizabeth Cash.I have also found that James had a sister Ann who was born in Ruabon and who married Thomas Denson in Chester in 1821. James moved to BRISTOL where He became a Poor Rate/Tax Collector. He married Matilda Page from Wotton under Edge in Gloucestershire. They had at least 5 children James, Thomas, Ellen May, Matilda Jane and the youngest, Job Federick who was my great grandfather. Does anyone know anything about the BIGGS family in CHESTER at that time please?

I am searching for the family of Frank Foulkes who married my g/mother Elizabeth Jones abt 1901/1902, I have not been able to find a record of the marriage. Frank was born in 1875 in Chester his parents were Jane and Richard and the other children in the family were Eden, James,Samuel and William, as shown on the 1881 Census. On the 1891 census Frank is with his brother William in the Industrial School for poor children in Chester. I cannot find him on the 1901 census. He and Elizabeth lived in Liverpool and had 5 children one dying in infancy. Frank died in 1911 aged 46. Elizabeth married again the following year. I really would like to know when and where Frank and Elizabeth married so if anyone recognises Frank's family and can help it would be appreciated. Beryl
