Drowning in Birkenhead Lakes in late 1940's early 1950's - Birkenhead
Where are/were the Birkenhead Lakes and are there any records of drownings from 1945 to 1955? It is known, that my fathers mother, by adoption, drowned here and I'd like to find more information. Regards Nick

Harold b 1868 and Allan Gardner b 1886 in St Helens in 1868 both moved to Birkenhead in the early 1900's. Allan had one son Allan who married Margaret McIlveen in 1931 in Birkenhead,and died in the 2nd WW. They had 1 son Ronald K Gardner b 1934 and I would be interested to know of their children Alan K Gardner b 1957, Paul D b 1959, Mark S b1964 and Lisa Marie b 1967 in Wallasey. Frank and Bella Palmer - Birkenhead
I am trying to find out about my great uncle Frank Palmer, born Nottingham 1891. I last have him in 1911 as a carter in Seacombe. I would also like to trace his marriage to Bella, who I only knew as Aunt Bella in the 1950s. She had a good (what I assume to have been) Liverpool accent and I know they lived in Wallasey as my mum could remember going over on a ferry.

.My great grandmother was a Broome-She received a letter from Robin Broome April 11th 1913-the return address was The Acres-Barnston Birkenhead-I am doing the Broome geneaology and have most of it when they lived in the US.We have relatives in England and when we took a trip around England I had 1/2 day to find The Acres We found the stone Pillars that marked the estate-a neighbor was curious why we had our picture taken in front of the pillars that was THE "ACRES" and told us the house was around the curve.We knocked on the door and a young lady admitted us and gave us a tour of the house-she was a new owner and did not know the history of the house.Curious about any History of THE ACRES.Thank you

May be you worked the silo's on the north or south site, or the floating grain legs. The old rope race engine house and it's hidden secret, and the big fire at the central provender warehouse. I am looking for information regarding Fred Unwin, Thomas Unwin, and Alfred Unwin who were born in Bollington, England in/around the mid to late 1880s. We were always under the impression that Fred was an only child, but information was surfaced that Fred may have not have been an only child, he may have had two younger brothers, Thomas and Alfred. Alfred eventually was married in Winnipeg in 1908 and settled in Minot, North Dakota. Fred immigrated to Canada in the early 1900s and eventually settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His father was listed as Samuel Unwin on his marriage certificate. I would appreciate any assistance, whatsoever, in helping me research my family's history.

Rowland Stamford Road - Bowdon
Thomas Henry Rowland was born in 1842, married Elizabeth Woodward Lowe in 1872 They lived in Pulford for a while then they moved to Stamford Road, Bowdon, by 1881. I think I identified the house when we went to visit Altrincham recently, although itis hard to tell with no house numbers on the census - you have to count along from the named houses. It had a skip outside and its front bay being replaced in May 2004. If it is your house, I would love to hear from you.

Baum family 1878 onwards - Bowdon
I am trying to find if there were any issue of the marriage of Franz Percy Baum and Margaret Emelie Schwarz, married in Hale in Sept 1909. It would seem that Margaret had a child, also called Margaret in April 1906 (Cheshire 8a 565). He worked in the Calico trade and she was the daughter of a dyer. Both had German parentage.
