Rowland Stamford Road - Bowdon
Thomas Henry Rowland was born in 1842, married Elizabeth Woodward Lowe in 1872 They lived in Pulford for a while then they moved to Stamford Road, Bowdon, by 1881. I think I identified the house when we went to visit Altrincham recently, although itis hard to tell with no house numbers on the census - you have to count along from the named houses. It had a skip outside and its front bay being replaced in May 2004. If it is your house, I would love to hear from you.

My husband's family lived here in the 19th-early 20th C. The current spelling is Dean, but I understand that at least one branch of the family might have changed it from Deane, Dene, Daine, Dain, Dane or some other variant for some reason. Anyone know more?

I am trying to find if there were any issue of the marriage of Franz Percy Baum and Margaret Emelie Schwarz, married in Hale in Sept 1909. It would seem that Margaret had a child, also called Margaret in April 1906 (Cheshire 8a 565). He worked in the Calico trade and she was the daughter of a dyer. Both had German parentage.

My own family came from Bowdon - as far as I can tell! John ATHERTON married Anne Backhouse on 18 Oct 1778, though John did not originate in that area, though he was born in Cheshire, well, he's not in the Parish Records anyway! As a result of hitting a number of brick walls, I have decided to start a One-Name study into the name ATHERTON. Anyone looking for the surname can contact me - obviously no guarantees, but I am in the process of collecting a large database that might help you (and me!).

Hi everyone. Just hoping someone can tell me what became of the family of John Casson who was born in Kendal in 1879. He married Mary Richardson in Windermere in 1899. He also had a twin sister called Elizabeth who married James Burns in Windermere also in 1899. I'd love to hear from anyone who can tell me what became of these Casson's.
