Family history. - Birkenhead
Buchanan's Flour Mills, Dock Road,Birkenhead. Members of my family worked at this late flour mill during the 1950's. Be pleased to make contact with any of the ex-work force that may have worked in Mills A or B, perhaps, as Rollermen or Cleaners. Also, Blue Cross Mill just next door. The Warehouse across the road and one of the many 'truckers' be good to hear from. The Mill Manager at that time was a Mr Coppell. A Mr Gist worked in the Warehouse, also, Mr Alfred Clarke in the Laboritory. maybe, you remember them? The Sack House held a number of women holding down very heavy work and extra dusty occupation. I look forward to hearing from you.

Biddle & McDermot - Birkenhead
Annie Biddle was born 30th October 1866 at 7 Upper Beckwith Street, Birkenhead to parents Dinah Biddle (formerly McDermot) and John Biddle (Sugar Refiner Labourer). In the 1871 Census Annie is living at the same address with her widowed mother (who now calls herself Maria - born Dublin Ireland). Confusingly on Annie's wedding certificate she records her father as being "Michael Biddle - Photographer" (bit of poetic license there I think!). I can find no trace of a marriage for Dinah/Maria and John or any other Census entries that will allow me to trace this line any further. If anyone has any information on this couple or if they find any mention of a Dinah McDermot or John Biddle in the same locale in the 1851 Census particularly in the Cheshire or Liverpool area, please give me a shout. Many thanks

John Biddle & Dinah McDermott add. - Birkenhead
Apologies - meant to say 1851 or 1861 Census. Biddle is prone to transcriber "reinterpretation" as Biddle, Biddell, Bedell, Bittle, Bittell or Bythell amongst other variations!
