When he married he gave his fathers name as John Singleton,a Clerk. Robert was a Cart Porter and when he moved to London worked on the railway. Unable to find any record of his birth or any certain connections with any John Singleton in Manchester I am wondering if there could be a connection with a PETER SINGLETON and his wife ALICE,who were living in Granby Street in Manchester in 1841 as he too gave his occupation as Carter in the 1841 census.
