BRAZENDALE 's of Knutsford & Runcorn
- Knutsford
I am desperately trying to track down the birth & or details of SAMUEL BRAZENDALE b. abt 1811 d. 1839 Runcorn. He married ELIZABETH SEDDON b.1811 Runcorn. I am having real problems (for the past two years!!) I cannot trace a birth for him at all! He may have been born in Knutsford as the 1841 census shows Elizabeth had moved back there and is listed as 'Pauper' Would any one know whether the poor relief would have dictated that she must move back to her husbands birth parish in order for her to recieve it? if so, it would certainly secure the fact that he was born in Knutsford! I do have a marriage for a SAMUEL BRAZENDALE & ELIZABETH SIDDALL at Manchester Cathedral 1830 - would anyone know if this mispelling of Seddon was common? if it is them, why would they have got married at manchester when they were living in Runcorn? any ideas?
Any help on SAMUEL gratefully appreciated!

JONES the Blacksmith - Landican
- Landican
I have recently discovered a family link to the tiny village of Landican. Named as Landechene in the Domesday book, this ancient village is no more than a couple of farm buildings and cottages but was once one of the 31 villages of the Wirral 100. Most people associate the name Landican with the nearby cemetery as the village is tucked away down a country lane bypassed by modern-day traffic.
William Jones born c1770 married Ann Bollart(Bollard)in 1795 and had nine children Thomas 1796, Robert 1799, Nancy 1801, Martha 1803, Edward 1805, John 1808 (died aged 20), Mary 1810, Alice 1812, James 1814(died aged 8). Edward married Mary Powell in 1832 and lived in Irby. There is a long established Jones family in the village, John b. 1640, son William married Mary Ackerley, c1697 and his son John, who was the blacksmith, married Alice Cotton in 1713 and had a son John b.1720.
John Jones was a miller in 1844.
If anyone has information on the Jones family of Landican, the smithy or the mill I would like to hear from you.
