Hullock - Ullocks of Grange
- Grange
I am researching my family who came from Lancashire, Cumbria, Cumberland and Westmorland. The definite links I have are Richard Hughlock b 12-8-1805 at Grange, Baptised 1-9-1805 of 292 Eaves Lane Chorley Lancashire. I believe he was illegitimate and his mother was Sarah (Hullock) Ullock born in Coniston in 1765 baptised 16-12-1765 in Coniston. As far as I am able to ascertain she never married and ended up at Salmesbury Bottoms work house. I further believe Sarah (Hullock) Ullock had other children as follows Mary Ullock 16-11-1787 Carmel Grange Parish, Baptised 18-12-1787 Cartmel, James (Hullock) Ullock 26-2-1793 Cartmel baptised 24-3- 1793 Grange St Mary Carmel married a Deborah ? b Longridge 1791, buried 13-6- 1854 St Paul's Preston marriage date 22-12-1863 St Peters Chorley, Atkinson (Hullock) Ullock 19-3-1797 Cartmel Grange Parish baptised 23-4- 1797 Cartmel married Isabell (Bella) Miller 27-11-1818 St John Preston, Mathew (Hullock) Ullock 21-10- 1801 mother from Cark ?baptised 16-11- 1801 Cartmel registers, buried 22-10- 1802.
Sarah (Hullock) Ullock could have been the daughter of :-
a) James Hullock b 1731 Cawton and Sarah Warriner married 10-6-1753 Broughton in Furness
b) Serjeant Sargent Ullock
I have various spellings for the name from Holock, Hullock, Hewlock, Yewlock, Hughlock, and many others depending on the dialect and the scribes interpretation of the spelling.
It seems most likely that the family started life in the place named ULLOCK.
Can anyone assist me by pointing me in the correct direction to form my next link.
many thanks
David

I am trying to locate the parents of Isaac Dickens. I know from his burial record at St Marys Church, Great Budworth that he was born abt 1773. I would also like to find his marraige date to Mary (unknown surname) which I assume is before 1799 which is the date one of his children was born. Can anyone help?
