Thomas Percival c.1835 Frodsham/Runcorn
- Frodsham
Looking for my great great grandfather Thomas Percival, born c. 1835, father Peter Percival. Married 1863 in All Saints, Runcorn, to Mary Hayes. Witnesses at the wedding were John and Jane Percival. Three sons born Church Street, Frodsham, and baptised at St Lawrence, Frodsham: John (my great grandfather), William Henry and Peter, before the family emigrated to the USA in 1871/72. Thomas was a quarryman. I do not know where he was born or an exact birth date. Am trying to trace back through Peter and beyond.

Mary Hayes 1842
- Frodsham
Looking for my great great grandmother Mary Hayes, born 8 March 1842, father Peter Hayes. I think this is the right family; they lived on The Quay, Frodsham. Peter was an agricultural labourer. His wife Ellen (nee Evans) was from Hawarden in Flintshire and was 8 or 10 years older than Peter. Children James, Ellen and Mary. Perhaps an older sister Betsy. In the 1851 Census there were also two lodgers, Elizabeth Palin (18-husband at sea) and Edward Read (29 - journeyman carpenter).
Mary was married 1863 in All Saints, Runcorn, to Thomas Percival. Witnesses at the wedding were John and Jane Percival. Three sons born Church Street, Frodsham, and baptised at St Lawrence, Frodsham: John (my great grandfather), William Henry and Peter, before the family emigrated to the USA in 1871/72. In the 1871 Census 29-year-old Mary is head of household (perhaps Thomas had already left for the US), and also in the house is Ellen Beryes, age 16. My guess is that this surname is a badly written "Hayes", and she is a cousin or niece.
Any help in confirming that this is the right Hayes family (there are many!) would be much appreciated. Would also like to trace back beyond Peter and Ellen if possible.

Sutton Family & Millstone Inn
- Frodsham
My Sutton ancestors ran The Millstone from at least 1812 to 1847, and then to 1861 by another branch of the family.
The oldest traced ancestor is Peter Sutton who had children baptised in Frodsham from 1730 onwards, but I have not been able to trace his marriage or birth, neither of which seem to have taken place locally. Any info appreciated.
Sutton was a common name locally, and it is possible to trace several other Sutton families.
