Elizabeth HORSFIELD was my great grandmother. She was born in Dukinfield, Cheshire c. 1835 and baptised in St Michael's Ashton under Lyne in November 1835. Her parents were Joseph, a spinner, and Nancy. Elizabeth married William ASHTON in St George's Hyde in 1864. In 1861 Elizabeth was a lodger in Newton Hyde. Looking for more information.

My Grandmother was born Mary Jane Thorpe, her mother Mary Jane Clayton died in childbirth in 1879. Mary Jane Clayton married Noah Thorpe in 1857, and died giving birth to her daughter Mary Jane Thorpe, by the 1881 census Noah had remarried and his wife's name is Hannah. Mary Jane Thorpe had six siblings, Emma, Keziah, Edward, Jabez, Noah and John. Mary Jane Thorpe married my grandfather Walter Hetherington and they lived in Sand Street, Stalybridge, they had only one son, Sidney Hetherington, my father.

He married Nancy ? from Holmfirth. All their children were born in Stalybridge: Ann 1832; William 1834; Jane 1836; Emma 1839; James c1846 and Betsey 1853. They seemed to have evaded the 1841 census.
